A device of a receiver, a method and a machine readable medium to implement the method. The method includes: determining a residual rate to identify a decoding estimate for a first packet sent from a wireless first transmitter; determining a grouping of transmitters including the first transmitter and a wireless second transmitter scheduled to transmit a second packet; performing power optimization by determining lowest necessary transmission powers corresponding, respectively, to transmissions of the first packet from the first transmitter and of the second packet from the second transmitter, wherein the transmissions of the first and second packets are within a same time-frequency resource and together define a signal to be received at the receiver; and encoding for transmission to the first and second transmitters information on the signal based on the residual rate, the grouping and the power optimization.

Beamforming for hybrid antenna arrays

A user equipment (UE) can process signals including a first synchronization signal (SS) and a second SS. The first SS and the second SS are beamformed with transmit beams and transmitted on subbands in a first set of symbols, for the first SS, and a second set of symbols, for the second SS. The UE can detect the first SS in the first set of symbols, and measure beam qualities of the transmit beams on the subbands in at least one of the first set of symbols or the second set of symbols. The UE can select one or more transmit beams and corresponding one or more subbands based on the measured beam qualities. The UE can detect the second SS on the selected subbands in the second set of symbol, and each of subbands in the first and second sets of symbols is associated with a transmit beam.

Network discovery and beam acquisition in 5G rat beam cell operation

A device and method for performing channel estimation, including in a first iteration of channel estimation, determining a channel estimate based on at least a first pilot symbol of a reference signal received at the device; and in each respective iteration of one or more ensuing iterations determining a reference channel estimate based on at least one subsequent pilot symbol of the reference signal; decoding a data signal received at the device based on the reference channel estimate; determining a data channel estimate based on at least one data symbol from the decoded data signal; and calculating a channel estimate for the respective iteration based on the reference channel estimate, the data channel estimate, and a channel estimate from a previous iteration.

In one embodiment, a mobile communication system is provided comprising a base station, a relay station, and a mobile station, a determiner configured to determine the distance between the mobile station and the base station or between the mobile station and the relay station, a decider configured to decide whether data transmission between the base station and the mobile station is carried out in a first relaying mode or a second relaying mode based on the determined distance and a controller configured to control the mobile communication system based on the result of the decision by the decider.

Resource allocation in a mobile communication system

Natural radio environments are emulated using field traces and a channel emulator to test radio devices. In one example, a test includes a field trace source to replay recorded field traces, a protocol tester to receive the replayed field traces to extract configuration parameters from the replayed field traces, to extract signals from the field traces, to send the signals to a device under test, and to receive signals from the device under test, and a channel emulator coupled to the field trace source, and between the protocol tester and the device under test, to receive the replayed field traces, to mix the replayed field traces with signals and to emulate the channel between the protocol tester and the device under test.

Virtualization of natural radio environments using field traces and a channel emulator

A method for processing one or more received radio signals is provided. The method may include performing a channel estimation of a transmission channel for at least a portion of the one or more radio signals received, to identify at least one soft channel parameter representing a channel impulse response of the transmission channel, and identifying at least one soft intercarrier interference parameter representing an interference for the one or more radio signals received using a first frequency carrier. The interference is caused by the one or more radio signals received using a second frequency carrier. The method may further include detecting soft data from the one or more radio signals based at least on the at least one soft channel parameter and the at least one soft intercarrier interference parameter.

Devices and methods for processing one or more received radio signals

Natural radio environments are virtualized to test radio devices. In one example, this is done by extracting signals and messages recorded in the field and injecting them in the operation of a protocol tester. In another example, the radio environment is reproduced by generating channel impulse responses in a ray-tracer, then interpolating them in a channel emulator and supporting the interpolation by means of post-processing. In another example, the radio environment is recorded using a mobile terminal in the field. In another example, natural radio environments are produced by reconstructing realistic cell loads and, as a consequence, intra-cell interference for a given device under test.

Virtualization of natural radio environments to test a radio device

A relay station of a mobile communication system is provided. The relay station may receive a connection request from a mobile station of the mobile communication system; determine whether communication resources of the mobile communication system should be allocated to the mobile station based on information received from one or more other relay stations and/or based on a distance between the mobile station and one or more other relay stations and/or a distance between the mobile station and one or more base stations; allocate communication resources to the mobile station if the communication resources should be allocated to the mobile station; and signal to a communication device of the mobile communication system the allocation of communication resources to the mobile station if the communication resources should be allocated to the mobile station.
