A printer of the present invention includes a print drum around which a master made by cutting a stencil is to be wrapped, an ink feeding device for feeding ink to the master wrapped around the print drum and a pressing member for pressing a sheet relatively to the print drum to thereby print an image on the sheet. The operator of the printer is capable of selecting either one of a usual print mode and a silence print mode that give priority to image quality and noise reduction, respectively.

A heat-sensitive stencil including a thermoplastic resin film on which a porous resin layer and a porous reinforcing layer are formed in succession. A porous fibrous layer may be disposed between the porous resin layer and the porous reinforcing layer.

Heat-sensitive stencil, method of preparing stencil printing master and stencil printer

A stencil making device of the present invention includes a front tension roller pair located downstream of the nip of a thermal head and a platen roller for applying tension to a stencil. The front tension roller pair is made up of an upper roller formed of rubber and a lower roller formed of metal. The lower roller is formed with a plurality of groove portions spaced from each other in the axial direction and each having a small diameter not contacting the stencil. The groove portions therefore reduce the area of contact with the stencil for thereby reducing the influence of static electricity on the stencil.

Master making device and stencil printer using the same

A stencil printer of the present invention includes a print drum for wrapping a master therearound, a master making and conveying section for perforating a stencil paid out from a stencil roll while conveying it to thereby produce the master, a master stocking section for stocking the master being conveyed by the master making and conveying section, and a roller pair for conveying the master out of the master stocking section. A movable master guide selectively guides the stencil paid out from the stencil roll to the master stocking section or the roller pair. A stretching member adjoins the print drum and is movable between a contact position where it contacts the stencil present on the print drum to thereby exert a stretching force on the master and a released position where the former is released from the latter. The stretching member and movable master guide are interlocked to each other.

Stencil printer

A stencil printer of the present invention includes a master making section for perforating a master, which includes a porous support and a thermoplastic resin film, in accordance with image data to thereby make a master and wraps the master around a print drum to thereby effect printing. The stencil printer includes a cavity sensor for sensing the condition of cavities existing in the porous support of the stencil. A controller identifies the kind of the stencil by determining the condition of the cavities in accordance with information output from the cavity sensor, so that stable print quality is insured without regard to a difference in cavity ratio between the lots of stencils.

Stencil printer and method and device for making a master therefor

A heat-sensitive stencil including a thermoplastic resin film on which a porous resin layer, a water soluble resin layer and a fibrous porous layer are formed in succession. A thin resin layer may be disposed between the thermoplastic resin film and the porous resin layer.

Heat-sensitive stencil, process of preparing stencil printing master and stencil printer

A printer of the present invention is capable of stably conveying a perforated part of a stencil, or master, coming out of master making means to master clamping means mounted on an ink drum and surely handing it over to the master clamping means, and preventing the master from creasing during conveyance. Master holding means for holding the master is positioned upstream of, in a direction of master transport, cutting means used to cut the stencil at a preselected length.

A heat-sensitive stencil including a thermoplastic resin film, and a porous resin layer formed thereon. The porous resin layer contains fibers having an average length in the range of 30 .mu.m to 10 mm. The stencil is produced by applying a coating liquid over a surface of a thermoplastic resin film to form a coated layer, and drying the coated layer. The coating liquid has a viscosity of 80-250 cp at 25.degree. C. and contains a resin and fibers having an average length in the range of 30 .mu.m to 10 mm.

Heat-sensitive stencil and method of fabricating same

A drum and an ink holding member for a stencil printer and capable of obviating offset effectively, and a stencil highly resistive to printing are disclosed. The ink holding member constitutes the outer periphery of the drum and allows the stencil or master to be wrapped therearound. The ink holding member is implemented as a sintered sheet of fibers. At least the surfaces of the fibers are constituted by metal.

A drum, stencil and ink holding member for a stencil printer are disclosed. The stencil is made up of a porous substrate and a thermoplastic resin film. The side of the substrate contacting the film has a surface roughness of 5 .mu.m Rz to 45 .mu.m Rz, preferably 5 .mu.m Rz to 35 .mu.m Rz or more preferably 5 .mu.m Rz to 25 .mu.m Rz.

Drum and stencil for a stencil printing

A method of printing a document image on a paper by wrapping a stencil, or master, perforated by, for example, a thermal head around a print drum, and a stencil printer. A wedge effect occurs between the print drum and an ink roller disposed in the print drum. The wedge effect, coupled with the pressure of a pressing member, causes ink to exude from the inner periphery to the outer periphery of the print drum and further from the master to the paper. The paper is separated from the master at a position downstream, with respect to the direction of rotation of the print drum, of a portion where the ink exudes due to the wedge effect. At the paper separating position, the ink does not exude from the master, and the ink pressure does not act. This obviates the blur of a printed image and prevents the ink from being transferred from the front of an underlying printing sheet to the rear of an overlying printing sheet stacked on the underlying sheet due to excessive ink transfer.

In a stencil printer, a drum has the outer periphery thereof formed by a porous sheet having passages for ink therein. The passages are each configured such that the ink entered an inlet pore is diverted from a single perpendicular to the drum at least once, and then flows out via at least one of outlet pores. The pores of the sheet are sized smaller than perforations to be formed in a stencil.

Structures of a drum and a stencil for a stencil printer

A paper discharging apparatus sequentially discharges a sheet of paper having an image on a surface thereof and stacks the paper sheet on a paper discharging base. The paper discharging apparatus has a blower for sending a gas flow to a space between a surface of the paper sheet previously discharged and arranged on the paper discharging base and a rear face of the next discharged paper sheet. A paper discharging apparatus of a printer has a paper discharging section having a paper discharging base for stacking a sheet of paper having a printed image on a surface thereof, and a paper feeding section for feeding the paper sheet to this paper discharging section. The paper feeding section has a blowing member for sending a gas to a space between a surface of the paper sheet previously fed and a rear face of the next fed paper sheet. The paper discharging section has a restraining member for restraining the gas supplied by the blowing member from being leaked on a side of the paper sheet.
