A connector comprising a first connector provided with first terminals each of which has a movable portion formed so that a dimension in its width direction is larger than a dimension in its thickness direction to be elastically deformed in a fore-and-aft direction (Y direction) of the connector, and a second connector provided with second terminals each of which has a movable portion formed so that a dimension in its thickness direction is larger than a dimension in its width direction to be elastically deformed in a width direction (X direction) of the connector. As compared with a terminal formed so as to be sufficiently elastically deformable in both of the fore-and-aft direction and the width direction of the connector, it is possible to increase a cross-sectional area of each of the movable portions, so that a permissible value of current of each of the terminals can be increased.

Connector

The movable portion of the first terminal of the first connector is formed to be larger in the width direction than in the thickness direction, so as to be elastically deformed in the front-back direction of the connector, and the movable portion of the second terminal of the second connector is formed to be larger in the thickness direction than in the width direction, so as to be elastically deformed in the width direction of the connector. Therefore, the movable portions can be formed with an increased cross-sectional area, thereby enabling the allowable current of the terminals to be increased, unlike a configuration in which the movable portion is elastically deformable to a sufficient extent both in the front-back direction and in the width direction of the connector.

A second elastic portion includes a bent section connected via the proximal end portion to a first fixing portion formed so as to circumvent along a shape of a distal end portion and a part of a lateral face of a projecting portion of a first movable housing.

Provided is a connector in which a decrease in contact pressure due to the shape degradation of the pressing portions does not occur even if the operation of rotating the pressing member is repeated. Since the connector main body has, at the rear end, supporting portions that rotatably support the pressing portion, the pressing portion rotates while butting the rear ends of the movable pieces and the supporting portions so that the rear ends of the movable pieces are pushed up by the pressing portion, the butting of the pressing portion and the supporting portions is contact between synthetic-resin components, this eliminates the pressing portion being cut off due to contact with the supporting portions even if the rotation of the pressing member is repeated, and hence the shape degradation of the pressing portion can be prevented.

An electrical connection terminal arranged such that when the amount of displacement of one of a first contact portion and a second contact portion increases, a decrease in the contact pressure of the other contact portion is effectively suppressed, and a connector in which the electrical connection terminal is used. Between first and second elastic pieces and a fixed piece, a third elastic piece is provided such that when one of a first contact portion and a second contact portion is displaced in the direction of contact with a mating terminal, the amount of displacement of the other contact portion in the direction of contact with the mating terminal becomes smaller than the amount of displacement of the other contact portion in the insertion and removal direction of the mating terminal. Connection reliability by two-point contact may be improved.

Flat cable and connector as well as electronic device

A reduced weight and size shielded receptacle connector includes an internal insulative connector housing having top and bottom walls, without any sidewalls interconnecting the top and bottom walls together. A plurality of conductive terminals are supported within the connector. A receptacle portion of the connector is formed in cooperation with the top and bottom walls of the connector housing and with a pair of metal sidewalls formed by bending a shield member around parts of the connector housing. A metal retaining shield is provided that also overlies a portion of the connector housing and which is partially retained on the connector housing by the metal shell. The shield not only provides shielding, but also serves to retain the opposing connector in mating engagement with receptacle connector by way of three retention members that extend in and engaged the opposing connector in three different directions.

Shielded connector of reduced-size with improved retention characteristics

A card connector for connecting different types of IC cards includes a housing for receiving an IC card for movement between a preload position and a latched position. A slider is movably mounted on the housing and engageable with the IC card for movement therewith between the preload and latched positions. A latch mechanism is operatively associated between the slider and the housing for latching slider in the latch positions. A lock member on the slider is engageable in a locking position with a lock portion of one type of IC card for locking the IC card to the slider, the lock member being movable to an inoperative position to allow an IC card of a second type which does not have a lock portion to be inserted into the connector.

IC card connector

An electrical connector is provided for terminating a flat electrical circuit having a bottom surface and a top surface. The connector includes a dielectric housing having an opening for receiving an end of the flat circuit. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the housing spaced laterally along the opening. At least some of the terminals have first flexible contact arms for engaging the bottom surface of the flat circuit and second flexible contact arms for engaging the top surface of the flat circuit. An actuator is movably mounted on the housing for movement between an open position allowing the flat circuit to be inserted into the opening and a closed position engaging the top surface of the flat circuit and biasing the bottom surface of the circuit against the first flexible contact arms. The first and second flexible contact arms are coupled to each other such that the first contact arms pull the second contact arms into engagement with the top surface of the flat circuit when the actuator is moved to its closed position.

Flat circuit connector

An electrical connector for mounting on a printed circuit board having a plurality of through holes includes a dielectric housing. A plurality of conductive terminals are mounted on the housing. Each terminal includes a tail portion for passing through a selected one of the through holes in the printed circuit board. Each tail portion has a first side and a latch hook projecting from a second side opposite the first side. The width of the tail portion between the first side and a tip of the latch hook is less than a diameter of the selected through hole. Each solder tail portion can be inserted from one side of the printed circuit board through the selected hole with minimum insertion forces, with the latch hook being engageable with an opposite side of the printed circuit board.

Circuit board connector with improved terminal tails

An electrical connector assembly includes a receptacle connector having a dielectric housing with a mating receptacle portion and at least one conductive receptacle terminal mounted on the housing. The receptacle terminal has contact portions spaced apart generally at opposite sides of the receptacle portion. A plug connector includes a dielectric housing having a mating plug portion insertable into the receptacle portion of the receptacle connector in a mating direction. The plug portion is smaller than the receptacle portion in a direction transverse to the mating direction to provide a range of floating movement between the connectors. At least one conductive plug terminal is mounted on the housing of the plug connector and has resilient contact portions maintained in constant engagement with the spaced apart contact portions of the receptacle terminal throughout the entire range of the floating movement.
