A module battery is housed in a module battery housing rack. An electric cell is housed in a container. The container is provided with a high thermal conductive wall and a low thermal conductive wall. A first portion of a plate overlaps the outer surface of the high thermal conductive wall and a second portion of the plate protrudes from the outer surface. The second portion surrounds the first portion. A first main surface of the plate is brought into direct contact with the outer surface at the first portion and it is apart from the container at the second portion. A second main surface of the plate is exposed to a space, to which heat is allowed to radiate. An opening may or may not be formed at the first portion. A thermal conducting medium may be held between the first wall and the first portion.

Battery housing structure

A battery chamber is formed inside a sealed container. A module battery and a charging/discharging path outside a battery are housed in the battery chamber. In the module battery, an electric cell chamber and an air chamber are formed inside a heat-insulating container. The electric cell chamber and the air chamber are divided by a heat transfer wall. An electric cell of a sodium-sulfur battery, and a charging/discharging path inside a battery are housed in the electric cell chamber. An intake path starts from outside of the sealed container and leads to the air chamber. An exhaust path starts from the air chamber and leads to the sealed container. The blower generates an air flow that sequentially flows through the intake path, the air chamber and the exhaust path. In a case where the cooling of the electric cell chamber is required, the air flow is generated.

An operation guidance program of a sodium-sulphur battery includes a unit that input an operation output and a time zone, a unit that continuously inputs the remaining battery capacity and the battery temperature, a unit that predicts the remaining battery capacity of the sodium-sulphur battery and the battery temperature of the sodium-sulphur battery at the final time, a unit that compares the predicted remaining battery capacity with a standard smallest capacity recorded in advance and outputs guidance when the remaining battery capacity is smaller, and a unit that compares the predicted battery temperature with a standard highest temperature recorded in advance and outputs guidance when the battery temperature is higher than the standard highest temperature.

Operational guidance device of sodium-sulphur battery

A control system for a sodium-sulfur battery, which is composed of a plurality of battery modules connected in series, includes a control device having at least a temperature measuring unit for measuring a temperature of each battery module, a voltage measuring unit for measuring a voltage thereof, and a current measuring unit for measuring a current thereof assembled as a single control device. Preferably, the system includes a unit for detecting the end of discharge and the end of charge. Thus, the time lag in the detection of the end of discharge and the end of charge may be prevented. The reliability of a NaS battery during long-term operation is improved. A fluctuation in the power consumption of heaters during the driving of the NaS battery is reduced. The space required for installing power equipment such as a transformer may be omitted.
