An information-object designation system in which two character strings, a character string expressive of a name of each of information objects stored in an information processing system, and a character string based on externally inputted information, are compared, and in which when a match of the two character strings has been detected, an event is commenced for the information object having the name expressed by the matching character string.

Information-object designation system

A speech recognition system wherein a word being the most similar to an inputted voice is delivered as a recognized result; in order to assist a user in entering a voice input, words being subjects for the recognition of the inputted voice are automatically displayed, or recently displayed ones of words which have been displayed up to the present are extracted as words to become subjects for recognition and are automatically displayed as the subjects for the recognition of the input voice.

Speech recognition system which displays a subject for recognizing an inputted voice

A speech recognition system recognizes voices from sequence data which is expected to be input in a regular, predetermined order. The speech recognition system includes a unit generating a recognition reference word by adding items of dummy data to each item of the sequence data, and a unit recognizing and outputting from among a set of recognition reference words that recognition reference word which is the most similar to an externally input voice. The recognition reference word is output as a recognized result on the basis of a feature of the input voice. Moreover, the dummy data are neighboring data which lie in a neighborhood of all items of the sequence data, thus forming the set of recognition reference words available for speech recognition.
