The technical problem of predicting the level of activity driven by a web page representing a company in an on-line social network system is addressed by providing a company page assessment system. A company page assessment system is configured to use a machine learning model to determine features and respective thresholds that signal the likelihood of a web page representing a company (a company page) to drive member activity in the on-line social network system. The company page assessment system also provides the ability to assess quality of a company page. Different quality levels of a company page can be indicated by respective labels 'Complete Page,' 'Quality Page,' and &#x201c;Engaged Quality Page.&#x201d;

Capturing company page quality

Systems, devices, media, and methods are presented for identifying unread elements and presentation context to generate real-time indicators for the unread elements. The systems and methods receive an indication identifying a member and identify content for presentation to the member. The systems and methods determine one or more presentation parameters for the content and one or more content parameters for the content. The systems and methods generate a content representation of the content for presentation within a user interface based on the presentation parameters and the content parameters, and cause presentation of the content representation at the client device associated with the member.

Real-time unread indicator

A system, method, and apparatus are provided for propagating a status among related events. A relationship component of the system maintains a graph of the related events and, upon assignment of a status to an event identifies one or more related events (e.g., the root event, other ancestor events, descendant events). A retention component of the system includes multiple nodes that maintain user records (e.g., sharded by user identifier) storing events associated with the members and that also maintain separate event status tables to identify statuses of selected events. For example, an event status table may store statuses of root events and/or other ancestor events from which a given subsequent event may inherit or derive a status. An event status may reflect a quality or characteristic of the event (e.g., spam, low quality, language of the event), a status of the associated user (e.g., fame, level of influence), etc.

Propagating a status among related events

A machine may be configured to generate a digital content feed based on at least explicit feedback from a member of a Social Networking Service (SNS). For example, the machine generates explicit input data describing digital content preferences of a member of the SNS based on a communication including explicit feedback data. The communication is received from a client device associated with the member. The machine accesses feature data pertaining to one or more items of digital content determined to be relevant to the member. The feature data describes one or more characteristics associated with the one or more items. The machine generates a feed of items of digital content for the member based on the explicit input data and the feature data. The machine causes a presentation of the feed of the items of digital content in a user interface of the client device associated with the user.

Feed modeling incorporating explicit feedback

The disclosed embodiments provide a system for restoring temporal coherence of ranked content that was previously shown to a user. During operation, the system receives a set of content items to display to the user. For each content item, the system obtains a ranking score; determines if the content item was impressed upon the user during a prior session; and, if so, adds the content item to an impressed subset of content items. The system creates a display order for the set of content items by: removing the impressed content items from the set of content items; ordering the set of content items according to their ranking scores; ordering the impressed subset of content items according to their display order in the prior session; and inserting the impressed subset into the set of content items at a determined insertion point. The system then displays the ordered set of content items.

Restoring temporal coherence of previously seen ranked content

A method of presenting on a device of a user of a social-networking system information about other users of the social-networking system is disclosed. A location of the user of a social-networking system is determined. Locations of the additional users of the social-networking system are determined. A subset of the additional users of the social networking system is selected based on the location of the user and the locations of the additional users and based on information stored in a profile of the user in comparison to information stored in profiles of the additional users. Instructions are transmitted to a device of a user, the instructions instructing the device to display in a condensed visual form the subset of the information stored in the profiles of the additional users.

Wearable computing&#x2014;augmented reality and presentation of social information

A method of presenting translated content items is disclosed. It is detected that a content item has been captured by a device of a user. It is identified that the content item is a candidate content item for translation. The candidate content item is translated; and the translated candidate content item is presented via a user interface of a wearable display of the device.

Techniques for translating text via wearable computing device

A method of arranging a serendipitous meeting is disclosed. It is determined that a first person of an organization is within a physical proximity to a second person of the organization. A discussion topic is identified, the discussion topic being relevant to a first task pertaining to the organization and a second task pertaining to the organization, the first task being associated with the first person and the second task being associated with the second person. At least one of the first person and the second person is notified of the identifying of the discussion topic while the first person is within the physical proximity to the second person.

Serendipitous issue reminder system

A method of using mobile devices of participants of a meeting to facilitate a meeting is disclosed. It is identified that a group of two or more people are conducting the meeting. Information about the group of the two or more people is collected based on a relevance of the information to a context of the meeting. At least a portion of the information is transmitted for presentation in a user interface of a mobile device of each member of the group to facilitate the meeting.

Virtual conference manager

The disclosed embodiments relate to a system for presenting navigation options to a user of a mobile application. During operation, the system receives usage data comprising a record of actions performed while the user was interacting with the mobile application. Next, the system analyzes the usage data to identify areas of interest within the mobile application that the user is likely to access. The system then constructs a set of personalized navigation options for the user based on the identified areas of interest, and possibly other areas of the application based on promotional considerations. Finally, the system outputs the set of personalized navigation options to be presented to the user through a navigation pane in the mobile application, wherein the navigation pane includes shortcuts to the set of personalized navigation options.

Providing a personalized navigation experience in a mobile application

A system may be configured to provide a user interface on a mobile device for a social network having a plurality of functions. The system may include a display, configured to display a representation of each of a subset of the plurality of functions, wherein each function of the subset is implementable upon selection of a representation corresponding to the function by a user and a processor, configured to dynamically generate the subset of the plurality of functions based, at least in part, on a likelihood for each of the functions that the user will select a corresponding representation. The display may be configured to display the subset as dynamically generated.
