The present invention defines a method of correcting for eye movement during optical coherence tomography imaging. The method includes imaging (by scanning) a fundus of an eye to obtain a fundus image (for example, using an SLO); scanning the fundus to obtain a plurality of tomographic images (for example, using OCT); determining, at predetermined intervals, an alignment of the tomographic images with respect to the fundus image, and, if it is determined that there is a misalignment, determining the number of tomographic images that have been scanned in the predetermined interval since the previous alignment determination; determining the offset by which the tomographic images are misaligned; applying the offset to the next tomographic image to be scanned and rescanning the determined number of tomographic images that were scanned during the interval between misalignment being determined and offset being applied.

A method and system for compensating for motion artefacts in Optical Coherence Tomography is provided. A B-scan set includes a plurality of B-scan images acquired at least a position corresponding to a target position of a fundus of an eye. The plurality of B-scans within the B-scan set are aligned using a first alignment process and a second alignment process, where the second alignment process is performed on the B-scan images within the B-scan set aligned by the first alignment process. The first alignment process aligns the B-scan images within the B-scan set at a first resolution in at least an axial direction, and the second alignment process aligns the B-scan images within the B-scan set aligned in the first alignment process at a second resolution having a higher resolution than the first resolution in at least the axial direction.

Method and system for motion artefacts removal in optical coherence tomography

In an OCT apparatus for obtaining a tomogram using optical interference between signal light and reference light, a first distance between a specific image and a coherence gate is obtained from a first tomogram obtained by imaging. The coherence gate is moved by a set moving distance along a predetermined moving direction. The positional relationship between the specific image and the coherence gate is determined based on the position of the specific image in a second tomogram obtained by imaging after movement of the coherence gate and the position of the specific image in the first tomogram.
