A RAP detection procedure that can be used to find the best narrow beam in an efficient manner. In a first step, an access point correlates an incoming signal with appropriate RAPs and then selects at least one candidate RAP for further processing in at least one set of narrow beams that all reside within the coverage area of a wide beam with which the candidate preamble is associated. For each candidate RAP, a second step is executed including narrow beamforming and a PRACH receiver chain including threshold comparison.

One embodiment of the disclosure provides a method performed by a first component part of a base station. The first component part comprises one of a central unit and a radio unit. The base station further comprises a second component part, which comprises the other of the central unit and the radio unit. The method comprises: receiving a user data stream to be transmitted to the second component part, the user data stream comprising a plurality of data samples which are for transmission by the base station over an air interface, or which have been received by the base station over the air interface; applying first and second scaling factors to the data samples to generate a scaled user data stream, wherein the first scaling factor is updateable every first plurality of data samples, wherein the second scaling factor is updateable every second plurality of data samples, and wherein the second plurality of data samples is less than the first plurality of data samples; and transmitting the scaled user data stream and an indication of the first and second scaling factors to the second component part.

Methods, apparatus and machine-readable mediums for signalling in a base station

A method performed by a network node for managing transmission of Cell Reference Symbols, CRS, wherein the network node operates one or more cells and the network node is configured to transmit the CRS in a first bandwidth mode. When the network node has identified a cell which is not actively serving any UEs, also referred to as an empty cell, the network node applies a reduced CRS bandwidth mode in the first cell in relation to the first bandwidth mode. By applying a reduced CRS bandwidth mode in the empty cell, the overall interference of the CRS from the empty cell is reduced, thereby enhancing the performance in cells actively serving UEs.

A method performed by a network node for managing power of Cell Reference Symbols, CRS, wherein the network node operates one or more cells and the network node is configured to transmit the CRS in a first power mode. When the network node identifies a first cell which is not actively serving any UEs, which cell is also referred to as an empty cell, the network node reduces the power of the CRS in the first cell in relation to the first power mode. By reducing the power of the CRS, the overall interference of the CRS from the empty cell is reduced, thereby enhancing the performance in cells actively serving UEs.

A method for operating a radio access system comprises configuring a first carrier and a second carrier for use for radio access in a first radio access system. The second carrier is configured for frequency division duplex signalling. A useful frequency band of the second carrier is defined to, at least partially, overlap in frequency with a useful frequency band of a third carrier of a second radio access system. At least a part of the useful frequency band of the second carrier overlaps in frequency with guard bands of the third carrier. A method performed by a network node for managing transmission of one or more CRS subframes. The network node identifies if a cell is actively serving a set of UEs. When the cell is actively serving a set of UEs, which set of UEs is configured for DRX the network node sends CRS over the first bandwidth in one or more CRS subframes which are transmitted in the cell during an onDuration interval of the DRX pattern and/or in one or more CRS subframes where system information is sent and/or in one or more CRS subframes where downlink, DL, data is sent. The network node sends CRS over a second bandwidth, in CRS subframes which are not transmitted in the cell during the onDuration interval of the DRX and/or in the one or more CRS subframes except CRS subframes where system information is sent and/or in the one or more CRS subframes except CRS subframes where DL data is sent, which second bandwidth is reduced in relation to the first bandwidth.

A network node is operable in a wireless communication network, and a wireless device () being associated with a serving beam (#) managed by a radio network node associated with the network node. The method comprises obtaining () a position of the wireless device, wherein the position of the wireless device is associated with an expected beam. Method performed by a network node for reducing interference in neighboring cells. The network node operates in a communication network, which is adapted to wirelessly serve a UE via a serving Radio Access, RA, node. The network node obtains a determination of at least one of Reference Signal Received Power, RSRP, and Reference Signal Received Quality, RSRQ, from the serving RA node as received by the UE and a determination of at least one of RSRP and RSRQ from a neighboring RA node as received by the UE, when the UE is connected to the serving RA node. A method performed in a cellular communication network for establishing that a first cell of said network is unable to receive uplink radio signals. The method comprises determining that no indicative radio message has been received from any radio device during a predetermined time period. In view of said determining, requesting a second cell, neighboring the first cell, to instruct at least one radio device, connected to said second cell and able to detect said first cell, to transmit a radio signal. The method may also comprise obtaining information about how to receive the radio signal. The method may also comprise determining that the radio signal was not successfully received by the first cell in accordance with the obtained information.
