A wireless device according to one or more embodiments receives a request from a base station for capability information, with the wireless device transmitting the capability information in segments, responsive to the request indicating that the base station supports a protocol that utilizes segmentation for reporting the capability information. A base station according to one or more embodiments transmits a request for capability information to a wireless device. The request indicates the base station supports a protocol utilizing segmentation for reporting the capability information and the base station receives the capability information in segments, as transmitted by the wireless device.

Methods and apparatus for transmitting capability information

Methods performed by base stations and wireless devices for controlling the transmission and reception of capability information are disclosed. A method performed by a wireless device includes: receiving an indication of one or more protocols that are supported by the network for transmission of capability information; responsive to the wireless device supporting at least one of the one or more protocols for transmission of capability information, selecting a first protocol that is supported by the wireless device from the at least one of the one or more protocols, and transmitting capability information associated with the wireless device to the base station according to the first protocol. A method performed by a base station includes: initiating transmission of an indication of one or more protocols that are supported by the network for transmission of capability information; and responsive to the wireless device supporting at least one of the one or more protocols, receiving capability information associated with the wireless device according to a first protocol of the one or more protocols. Also disclosed are base stations and wireless devices configured to perform the methods.

A communications device () for classifying an instance () using Machine Learning (ML) is provided. The communications device is operative to acquire a feature vector representing the instance, classify the instance using a local first ML model, calculate a confidence level, and, if the calculated confidence level is less than a threshold confidence level, acquire information identifying one or more other communications devices, and transmit a classification request message comprising the feature vector to the one or more other communications devices. The one or more other communications devices are selected based on at least one of: an identity of a user of the communications device, a contact list of the user, a type of data comprised in the feature vector, an origin of the feature vector, the classification of the instance using the local first ML model, a location of the communications device, a respective location of the one or more other communications devices, a location associated with the instance, and one or more classified instances which are related to the instance represented by the feature vector.

Classifying an instance using machine learning

A first communications device () for detecting disturbing sound () is provided, operative to acquire a first representation of sound audible in a surrounding () of the first communications device, acquire, from second communications devices (-) which are spatially separated from the first communications device, second representations of sounds audible in the surroundings () of the second communications devices, and determine at least one second representation of sound which represents the same sound originating from the same source of sound. The first communications device is further operative to perform one or both of: i) if a sound level of a second representation of sound representing the same sound from the same source as the first representation of sound exceeds a first sound level threshold, and if the first communications device is proximate to the source of the sound, one or more of: trigger a notification to a user of the first communications device, reduce a volume of media played-out by the first communications device, and stop play-out of media by the first communications device, and ii) if a sound level of the first representation of sound exceeds a first sound level threshold, send a disturbance notification to the second communications device which is proximate to the source of the sound.

Detecting disturbing sound

A method of configuring a first client device to utilize at least one type of rate adaptation method in a negotiated session with a second client device. The first client determines whether a first type of rate adaptation method and a generic feedback format are to be used in the negotiated session. Upon determining that only the first type of rate adaptation method is to be used, the first client device is configured to utilize the first type of rate adaptation method for both semi-static and dynamic rate adaptation. Upon determining that both are to be used, the first client device is configured to utilize the first type for semi-static rate adaptation, and to utilize for dynamic rate adaptation a preferred rate adaptation method selected from a plurality of rate adaptation method types that provide improved performance for dynamic rate adaptation compared to the first type of rate adaptation method.

Method and apparatus for implementing congestion control negotiation

A method for personalizing a video stream for a user, wherein the video stream comprises a sequence of video frames having a format such that a user with a viewport is not able to view the whole content present in the video frames but only a part of the content present in the video frames, the method comprising: &#x2014;determining user preference information which indicates which spatial part of content present in the video frames is of higher relevance than other parts of the content present in the video frames, &#x2014;selecting a spatially more relevant part in the video frames having a higher viewing relevance compared to a remaining part in the video frames based on the determined user preferences, &#x2014;indicating the spatially more relevant part in the video frames to a video providing entity from where the video stream is delivered to the user.

Methods for personalized 360 video delivery

In one aspect, this disclosure details methods and apparatuses for influencing the service continuity threshold used for switching a multimedia session between Packet-Switched (PS) transport and Circuit-Switched (CS) transport, in dependence on the 'robustness' of the media configuration in use for the multimedia session. Robustness, for example, may be defined in terms of packet loss tolerance, and it will be understood that the media configurations available for a given multimedia session may have different levels of absolute or relative robustness and that the media configuration selected for use in a multimedia session may change during the multimedia session. Correspondingly, the approaches proposed herein provide mechanisms for dynamically adjusting the service continuity threshold in dependence on which media configuration is currently in use for the multimedia session.

Methods and apparatus for adjusting a service continuity threshold in a wireless communication network

A method of configuring a first client device to utilize at least one type of rate adaptation method in a session with a second client device. The client devices determine whether a first type of rate adaptation method and a second type of rate adaptation method are to be used in the session. The first type is usable for both semi-static rate adaptation and dynamic rate adaptation, and the second type provides improved performance for dynamic rate adaptation. When only the first type of rate adaptation is to be used, the first client device is configured to utilize the first type for both semi-static rate adaptation and for dynamic rate adaptation. When both the first type and the second type are to be used, the first client device is configured to utilize the first type for semi-static rate adaptation and to utilize the second type for dynamic rate adaptation.

In accordance with an example embodiment of the present invention, disclosed is a method and an apparatus thereof for removing jitter introduced by a packet switched network. Each received audio frame comprises a primary portion and a redundancy portion. The redundancy portion comprises a partial redundant copy of a previous frame that is offset by k frames. If a frame n is lost, a frame n+k that comprises the partial redundant copy of the lost frame n, is located in a jitter buffer. Based on the frame n+k, a substitute frame n' substituting the lost frame n is created and a substitution indicator of the substitute frame n&#x2032; is set to indicate that the redundancy portion of the substitute fame n&#x2032; should be used in decoding.

Method and apparatus for removing jitter in audio data transmission

A method and a first node for managing processing of an audio stream as well as a method and a second node for enabling management, by a first node, of processing of an audio stream and corresponding computer programs and computer program products are disclosed. Methods, network nodes, computer programs and computer program products for managing processing of an audio stream

A network node and a method therein for transferring a media stream are disclosed. The network node () transfers (A) a media stream from a first device () to at least a second device (), wherein the first device () supports bit rate adaptation based on Temporary Maximum Media Stream Bitrate Request, 'TMMBR', feedback and the second device () supports bit rate adaptation based on Self-Clocked Rate Adaptation for Multimedia, 'SCReAM', feedback. The network node () receives (A) SCReAM feedback from the second device (). Furthermore, the network node () derives (A) at least one rate control message from the SCReAM feedback. Moreover, the network node () determines (A), based on said at least one rate control message, a recommended bit rate to be recommended for use by the first device () when encoding the media stream.
