The invention relates to a method of threading a fibrous web (W) onto a circular cylindrical object () in a reel-up () for a paper-making machine (). The reel-up () comprises an endless flexible belt () mounted for rotation along a predetermined path of travel. The endless flexible belt () is positioned adjacent the circular cylindrical object () during winding and the fibrous web (W) residing on the outside surface () to engage the circular cylindrical object () during winding such that the endless flexible belt () is deflected from the predetermined path of travel. When a fibrous web (W) is to be threaded onto the circular cylindrical object (), the circular cylindrical object () is placed at a distance from the endless flexible belt () such that the endless flexible belt () is no longer deflected from the its path of travel. A narrow tail () is cut from a fibrous web (W) that is to be threaded and the narrow tail () is advanced on the outside surface () of the endless flexible belt (). The circular cylindrical object () is moved towards the endless flexible belt () such that the circular cylindrical object () comes into contact with the narrow tail () and an adhesive substance is applied to the to the narrow tail () such that the narrow tail () will adhere to the circular cylindrical object and starts to be wound on the circular cylindrical object (), whereafter the narrow tail () is widened. The invention also relates to a reel-up () capable of carrying out the method.

Method of threading a fibrous web and a reel-up for carrying out the method

The invention relates to an apparatus for winding a paper web. It comprises a rotatably mounted reel spool () onto which paper can be wound and an endless flexible belt () which is permeable to air and supported by support rolls (). The flexible belt is positioned adjacent the reel spool () to engage the web against the reel spool during winding such that the endless flexible belt is deflected from the path of travel. The flexible belt has a web-contacting side (). An actuator () is arranged to position the reel spool () and the flexible belt relative to each other to vary the amount of deflection. The apparatus further comprises a cleaning device () with at least one nozzle for blowing air against the web-contacting side of the flexible belt at a point where the flexible belt is not in contact with the paper. The invention also relates to a method of removing dust particles.

Apparatus for winding a web of paper material and a method of removing dust

The invention relates to a reel-up () for receiving and winding into a roll () a paper web (W) that arrives from a drying cylinder () in a paper making machine. The reel-up () comprises a rotatably mounted reel spool () onto which a paper web (W) can be wound to create a paper roll () of increasing diameter and an endless flexible belt () mounted for rotation along a predetermined path of travel such that the flexible belt () forms a loop. The flexible belt () is positioned adjacent to the reel spool () to engage the paper web (W) against the reel spool () during winding such that the flexible belt () is deflected from the predetermined path of travel when the paper roll () starts to build up on the reel spool (). The flexible belt () is air permeable and at least one blow box () is arranged inside the loop of the flexible belt () such that an underpressure can be generated that draws the paper web (W) against the flexible belt (). The at least one blow box () has at least one nozzle () through which air is blown out of the at least one blow box () and the nozzle is shaped as a slot. According to the invention, the at least one blow () box faces the flexible belt () with an outer surface () which is convexly curved such that dust which has been sucked through the flexible belt () and lands on the at least one blow box () is helped by gravity to glide along the outer surface () of the blow box () and fall of the blow box ().
