A method and system for using a graphical user interface for display and navigation of a three-dimensional navigational cube to assess vendors for meeting requirements of a service provider for deploying a selected service. A three-dimensional navigational cube configured to be navigated is generated and displayed. Mutually orthogonal axes of the navigational cube comprise subservices that the service provider must have to implement the selected service, vendors able to implement at least one of the subservices, and requirements stipulated by the service provider that are to be met for implementing the subservices. Selections sequentially received from a user include: one or more planar sections of the navigational cube, a vector of co-linear subcubes within one of the planar sections, and a single subcube within the selected vector which selects a vendor able to meet requirements for implementing the subservice for the selected single subcube.

Matching vendor offerings to service provider requirements

A method and system for assessing vendors for meeting requirements of a service provider for deploying a selected service via execution of program code by a computer system. A request is received from a service provider to identify vendors who can meet the service provider's requirements for deploying the selected service. Subservices that the service provider must have to implement the requested service are identified. Vendors able to implement at least one of the subservices are identified. Requirements to be met for implementing each subservice are identified. For each vendor, an indication of whether each vendor is able or unable to meet each requirement for implementing each subservice is determined and the indication is stored in a data store of the computer system. A three-dimensional navigational cube may be displayed, and navigated by the service provider, to enable the service provider to select vendors that meet the requirements.

Method and system for matching vendor offerings to service provider requirements

An approach for building an ontology is provided. Syntactically transformed complex triples whose core terms are identified are semantically transformed into simplified triples referring to new conceptualized core terms formed by user selections from a lexical database or by adding a suffix to core terms. The core terms are assigned to respective definitions and keys in a reference ontology, thereby retaining the semantics of the complex triples. Based on the reference ontology, an enrichment transformation of the simplified triples is performed to create simplified and enriched triples by adding relations derived from a correspondence each term in the simplified triples has with the reference ontology and by adding representations of semantics of reference ontology definitions of the terms. The simplified and enriched triples are stored as an ontology representing knowledge in an application providing free-form text from which the complex triples were extracted.

A method, system and computer program product for collaborative filtering of junk electronic mail (e-mail) are provided. The method includes receiving an e-mail message at a service provider, where the e-mail message includes a source address and a recipient address. The method further includes searching a collaborative junk register (CJR) for the recipient address in a group member list, where the group member list includes multiple member addresses and a junk address. The method additionally includes comparing the source address to the junk address. The method also includes filtering the e-mail message at the service provider to prevent delivery of the e-mail message in response to locating the recipient address in the CJR and identifying source address as the junk address.

Methods, systems, and computer program products for collaborative junk mail filtering

An approach is provided for identifying a solution to a problem where the problem and solution are in different disciplines. First data elements in common between first and second ontologies are determined and second data elements in common between first and third ontologies are determined. Based on the number of first data elements exceeding a threshold value and the number of second data elements not exceeding the threshold value, a bridged ontology is generated that merges the first and second ontologies but not the first and third ontologies. A relationship is identified between a subject, predicate and object extracted from a first data object which specifies the problem and, respectively, a subject, predicate, and object of a second data object included in the bridged ontology. Based on the relationship, the solution is identified as being the second data object.

Identifying common data objects representing solutions to a problem in different disciplines

A method and system for managing email between a sender and a recipient wherein the method and system provide the recipient with control over routing an email message, wherein the control includes predefining directions to be performed upon the receipt of an email message, and wherein the directions are dependent upon the properties of the email message. The recipient may enable or disable the control at any time.

Method and system for managing electronic mail

A method, process, and associated systems for ranking elements of an answer set retrieved by a conceptual search engine in response to a set of queried concepts submitted as a conceptual query. A processor of a computer system orders by relevance the semantic schemas that make up the retrieved answer set by first identifying a weight of each concept in a retrieved schema as a function of relationships among the concepts in that schema, then by identifying a semantic value of each queried concept in the retrieved schema as a function of the weights, and finally by identifying a semantic value of the query in the schema as a function of the semantic values of all queried concepts. The relative relevance of each schema may then be identified as a function of the semantic value of the query in that schema.

An approach is presented for determining a value of an association between first and second ontologies, Sand S. A first bridge of Swith Sis generated. A schema S' is created from sub-schema S extracted from the first bridge by removing common concepts and relationships to the common concepts, and for each common concept to which first and second concepts have immediate links in S, by creating a new immediate link in S&#x2032; between the first and second concepts. Based on an intrinsic value of S&#x2032; and a strength of the bridge of Swith S, a value of the first bridge is determined. Similarly, a value of a second bridge of Swith Sis determined. A value of the association between Sand Sis determined based on a sum of the values of the first and second bridges.

Determining the value of an association between ontologies

The disclosure relates to identifying a solution to a problem wherein the problem and solution are in different disciplines. An exemplary embodiment concerns a system for identifying a solution comprising a bridging component for generating a bridged ontology from data elements of prime and secondary ontologies if the number the data elements common to the ontologies meets a threshold value. The system may comprise an inference engine for identifying, from the bridged ontology, data elements related to the problem and the solution. The inference engine may further determine relationships between the data elements associated with the problem and those associated with a solution to confirm the correctness of a solution. The problem and solution may be represented as RDF data objects.

A displayed navigational cube configured to be navigated for use by a service provider to enable the service provider to select at least one vendor for meeting requirements of the service provider for deploying a selected service in a service delivery environment. The displayed navigational cube includes mutually orthogonal axes of a first axis, a second axis, and a third axis. Subservices of the selected service, vendors, and requirements are respectively represented on the first, second, and third axis to define elements at each unique combination of subservice, vendor, and requirement. Each element is transparent or non-transparent such that the navigational cube includes transparent elements and non-transparent elements. Each transparent element denotes an indication that the vendor is unable to meet each requirement for implementing each subservice. Each non-transparent element denotes an indication that the vendor is able to meet each requirement for implementing each subservice.

A dynamic bandwidth manager for determining the bandwidth available to an IP connected client device, the IP connected client device requesting access to multimedia resources from a service provider, the dynamic bandwidth manager comprising: a receiving component for receiving an IP address of an IP connected client requesting access to a resource; a requesting component for locating a nearest managed device to the IP connected client and requesting a current network management data set pertaining to the IP connected client from the located managed device; a calculation component for retrieving a previously stored set of network management data pertaining to the IP connected client and for analysing the network management data sets, in dependence on the current network management data set and the previously stored network management data sets, to calculate the available bandwidth capacity of the IP connected client.

An approach is presented for determining a value of a bridge of a first ontology schema (S1) with a second ontology schema (S2). A bridge of S1 with S2 is generated. A sub-schema S is extracted from the bridge of S1 with S2. A schema S' is created from S by removing common concepts and relationships to the common concepts, and for each common concept to which first and second concepts have immediate links in S, by creating a new immediate link in S&#x2032; between the first and second concepts. An intrinsic value of S&#x2032; and a strength of a bridge of S1 with S are determined. Based on the intrinsic value of S&#x2032; and the strength of the bridge of S1 with S, the value of the bridge of S1 with S2 is determined.
