A geospatial modeling system may include a geospatial model database for storing images of a geographical area and a reference digital surface model (DSM) of the geographical area. The images each have associated with them respective first geolocation data with a first accuracy. The reference DSM may include second geolocation data with a second accuracy being greater than the first accuracy. The geospatial modeling system may further include a processor cooperating with the geospatial model database for generating an initial DSM based upon overlapping portions of the images, and aligning the initial DSM based upon the reference DSM to generate a georeferenced DSM having a third accuracy greater than the first accuracy.

Geospatial modeling system for images and related methods

A method for registering multi-dimensional topographical data points representing a multi-dimensional object, comprises: a) receiving a plurality of points representing a plurality of overlapping frames of a surface of the multi-dimensional object; b) finding for each point in a first frame a corresponding closest point in each of a plurality of subsequent frames; c) determining a rotation and translation transformation for each of the plurality of frames so that corresponding closest points are aligned; d) determining a cost for performing each rotation and translation transformation; and e) repeating steps b) through d) for additional frames to provide an optimum transformation.

Method and system for simultaneously registering multi-dimensional topographical points

A method () for extracting a digital elevation model from a plurality of raw topographical points representing a plurality of frames representing a plurality of perspectives of a multi-dimensional object comprising a surface and above-surface obstructions, comprises steps or acts of: finding the surface () by filtering out data points produced by the above-surface obstructions to provide a plurality of surface data points representing the surface; and filtering the surface data points () with a competitive filter to provide a multi-dimensional surface shell of digital elevation model data points. The above-described method can also be carried out by a specialized or programmable information processing system () or as a set of instructions in a computer-readable medium such as a CD ROM or DVD or the like.
