A method of heating a portion of a continuous material strip includes heating the web through use of one or more IR lamps provided with radiation-concentrating reflectors. The IR lamps are directed towards a restricted area on the web to thereby heat the thermoplastic surface in the restricted area to a temperature that corresponds to the melting temperature of the thermoplastic. The web can be provided with a color strip in the restricted area, whereby the color strip absorbs the heat from the IR lamps.

Packing containers manufactured from plastic-coated paper and having a sealing fin wherein the packing material is joined inside-to-inside in a sealed union, the material layers so joined together accommodating between them, at least along a part of the sealing fin, a tearing strip inserted in the sealing fin which is sealed to the inner plastic coating of the packing material. To facilitate the pulling off of the tearing strip on opening of the container, the packing material is provided at least within the region of the part of the sealing fin accommodating the strip with a material layer adapted to weaken adherence which is applied between the fibrous layer and the inner plastic coating of the packing material and preferably consists of water glass.

Packing container

An opening arrangement on a packing container of the type which comprises a pouring opening 6 formed in the upper side of the container. The opening arrangement comprises a cover strip 8 and a pouring edge strip 7 arranged between the cover strip 8 and the packing container. To make possible the reclosure of the pouring opening 6 the cover strip 8 is provided with a gripping strip 9' sealed to its underside which preferably has a free gripping edge 9' facilitating the hooking of the cover strip 8 to the pouring tab 7.

Reclosable opening arrangement on a packing container

The invention relates to a packing laminate web with a protective layer which is applied during the manufacture of the laminate web to one, sterile side of the web. When the laminate web is to be converted to aseptic packing containers the protective layer is detached and is transferred to the opposite side of the laminate web where it serves as an external plastic layer. The invention also comprises a method for the manufacture and conversion of the packing laminate web.

The invention relates to an opening arrangement on parallelepipedic packing containers of the type which include a sealing fin extending over the top end wall of the packing container and a longitudinal overlap joint which crosses the sealing fin. In the region of the sealing fin arranged between a crossing point and a tip of a triangular lug, which is connected with the top end wall of the packing container, a strip is provided which includes a central portion of a non-extensible or only slightly extensible, material and outer coverings of thermoplastic. These outer coverings, upon sealing of the fin, will fuse together with an inner plastic covering of the packing material in the fin. The packing container is adapted to be opened by upwardly pulling a part of the strip projecting at the crossing point, so that the central layer of the strip is detached from the outer coverings to form an emptying channel.
