Method and system for mapping the non-uniformity of an image sensor

A dermatoscope or endoscope inspection device which can be calibrated at high accuracy to be able to focus at a certain depth, e.g. below the top surface of the skin. A calibration pattern is provided or can be located at a reference viewing surface of an inspection device such as a dermatoscope or endoscope. It is important for a dermatoscope to know with the best accuracy available at what absolute depth below the top of the skin the device is focused. The dermatoscope or endoscope inspection device includes focusing means and by knowing a relationship between a digital driving level which shifts the focus position of the focusing means and the corresponding absolute change in focus depth, it is possible to know how deep the device is focused in absolute terms below the top of the skin.

System and method for camera calibration

Methods of image calibration and in particular of image calibration having a multiple of color scales as well as to quantitative imaging such as quantitative medical imaging, or to a display device or to a system for displaying an image, or to a controller of a display, or to software to enable the image calibration, or to a visualization application and a display. The method for processing an image, includes the steps of: &#x2014;selecting at least one trajectory in a color space; &#x2014;defining a transformation which primarily increases perceptual linearity of consecutive points belonging to the at least one trajectory; &#x2014;applying the transformation to the image. This has the advantage that the perceptual linearity can be restricted to the trajectory.

Image colour calibration with multiple colour scales

A system and method for separately processing content provided by different applications that is rendered on an attached display. The content is processed based upon the desired display settings that are appropriate for the particular application delivering content to a particular region of the display. In this way, simultaneously displayed applications may be processed as intended by each application, independent of differences in the display settings assumed by the displayed applications.

A method for transmission of images and/or video over bandwidth limited transmission channels having varying available bandwidth, which uses a classification algorithm to decompose the images and/or video to be transmitted into multiple spatial areas, each area having a specific image type; detecting the image type of each of those areas; and separately selecting for each of those areas an image and/or video encoding algorithm having a compression ratio. The classification algorithm is used to prioritize each of the areas, increase the compression ratio of the image and/or video encoding algorithm dedicated to spatial areas having lower priority in case of decreasing bandwidth.

Optical correction for high uniformity panel lights

A system and method for increasing perceived contrast in a medical display () is provided. The method involves temporarily increasing luminance output of at least part of a display () in response to a received request for improved visualization. To compensate for the change in luminance especially while the viewer's eyes adapt to the change in luminance, the method includes continuously modifying the display parameters especially during an adaptation period to match an adaptation of the viewer's eyes. The modified parameters at any given may correlate to the degree of adaptation by the viewer's eyes to the change. After a period of time, the display () may be returned to its normal operating luminance and corresponding settings, which may be selected to maximize the lifetime of the display ().

The invention provides a new method to calibrate a display system such that the display system is conforming to an enforced standard for a wider range of parameters, e.g. viewing angles, than compared to traditional calibration methods. This is obtained by calculating an optimised set of calibration parameters for the display to be conform to the enforced standard for the selected range of parameters.

The invention relates to a method for reducing imaging artifacts during a frame-changeover from a current frame to a following frame displayed by a display device comprising a plurality of pixels, wherein the artifacts are reduced by overdriving at least one control signal for controlling the pixel intensity of the related pixel during the frame-changeover, wherein the overdrive is carried out in dependence of the magnitude of an intensity step between a designated start intensity value of the pixel within the current frame and a designated target intensity value of the pixel within the following frame.
