Systems and methods for monitoring life signs in a subject. A radar unit comprising generates raw data and a processor unit receives raw data and identifies oscillating signals in a series of arrays of complex values representing radiation reflected from each voxel of a target region during a given time segment. A phase value is determined for each voxel in each frame and a waveform representing phase changes over time for each voxel is generated. Voxels indicating an oscillating signal are selected and life sign parameters are extracted.

Systems and methods for remotely tracking life signs with a millimeter-wave radar

A printed circuit board mounted radar system for monitoring a target region, including an array of transmitting antennas mounted to a printed circuit board, an array of receiving antennas mounted to the printed circuit board, a wave deflection mechanism mounted to the printed circuit board configured such that waves transmitted perpendicularly to the board by the array of transmitting antennas are incident upon the wave deflection mechanism and are directed radially away from the board, and waves reflected from objects within the target region radially towards the wave deflection mechanism are directed towards the receiving antennas in a direction perpendicular to the board.

Systems and methods for providing wide field-of-view radar arrays. Quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) beam forming reduces side lobes by applying a phase shift to transmitted signals to selected transmitting antennas. Radiation exposure control for beamforming technologies

Embodiments of an apparatus of a user equipment (UE) configured for operation in a fifth-generation system (5GS) are described herein. The UE comprises first and second array antennas for transmission of mmWave signals including a sounding-reference signal (SRS). In response to decoding radio-resource configuration (RRC) signalling that indicates antenna switching for SRS, the UE initiates a countdown timer and transitions the second array antenna from a low-power state to an active state. If a downlink control information (DCI) indicating SRS antenna switching is not received while the countdown timer is active, the UE generates a command to transition the second array antenna to a low-power state upon expiration of the countdown timer.

Beamforming is used in wireless link communication to improve a wireless link through increased channel capacity and diversity by focusing a beam, such as from multiple antennas, in the direction of the receiver. Where the receiver may be capable of measurements relevant to beamforming, more particularly measurements that vary or are otherwise dependent upon changes in beamforming settings, reference to such measurements and corresponding beamforming settings may improve performance. In this Disclosure, a sink device transmits a data stream to a source device, wherein said data stream comprises the position of the sink device. The data stream may further comprise data such as link quality, heading information, or discretized location. The source device stores this data in a memory. When the wireless link deteriorates, the source device assesses its memory to select a candidate beamforming setting with some indicia of success, such as those that correspond closely to the sink device's position, the most recently used beamforming settings, or beamforming settings that previously resulted in a satisfactory wireless link quality.

A method and apparatus for receive beam-forming in an analog domain. A user equipment may perform channel estimation for obtaining a set of channel responses for a plurality of antennas of the UE. The UE may determine a beamforming codeword for receive beamforming based on the set of channel responses. The UE may apply a training codeword to the received signal in analog domain. The training codeword includes phase adjustment coefficients for each antenna and a different training codeword may be applied for each channel observation. The UE may measure a metric for at least one candidate codeword based on the set of channel responses and determine the beamforming codeword based on the metric.
