In an IP telephone terminal, a function implementation controlling unit is configured so as to be capable of controlling implementation of a function instructed by a file received via IP telephone communications when the communicating unit receives the file. The configuration data storing unit stores configuration data that is used by the function implementation controlling unit to implement the function. The configuration data acquisition controlling unit performs control to acquire configuration data from the configuration data storing unit when a communicating unit receives a read file that is transmitted from an external IP telephone terminal. The response file generation controlling unit performs control to generate a response file including the configuration data. The response file transmission controlling unit controls a communicating unit to transmit the response file to the external IP telephone terminal that has transmitted the read file. The update controlling unit performs, when the communicating unit receives a write file, control to update the configuration data based on the write file that is transmitted from the external IP telephone terminal that has received the response file.

A communication apparatus is provided. The communication apparatus includes an image read unit which reads image data from a transmission document; a tag read unit which wirelessly reads tag data stored in a wireless tag corresponding to the transmission document; an image data generation unit, if the tag data includes mark data indicating that a mark is to be added to the image data, generates composite image data by combining the image data and mark image data based on the mark data; and a transmission unit which transmits the composite image data as transmission document data to an external apparatus.

A digital multifunction device is provided with RAM having a virtual drive area. The digital multifunction device enables a personal computer connected to and capable of communicating with the digital multifunction device via a USB interface to recognize this virtual drive area as an external storage device. When the personal computer writes image data to the virtual drive area, the digital multifunction device selectively executes one of an image forming process, fax transmitting process, and mail transmitting process based on the type of folder in which the image data is written. Accordingly, image data in a first folder is printed on recording paper, or image data in a second folder is transmitted to an external facsimile machine.

A call system for performing a voice call by an Internet call function using a known telephone terminal. In a multifunction machine serving as the telephone terminal, the output destination and the input source of audio signals input/output from/to a transmitter/receiver may be switched to an audio I/F. In the switched state, audio based on audio signals input/output from/to an outside source through the audio I/F is output/input from the transmitter/receiver. Therefore, when the multifunction machine is connected to a PC having the Internet call function such that audio signals can be input/output through an audio cable, an indirect audio call by the Internet call function with the transmitter/receiver is available. When an incoming call from a telephone line network is received, reception of the incoming call is notified so that a user can confirm the reception of the incoming call during the voice call by the Internet call function.

An image reading apparatus has a read table on which a source document is mounted, a document cover openably/closably held on the read table, a detection section detecting state of the document cover, a switching section switching between a continuous read mode where the source document is read when the detection section detects a closed state of the document cover after detecting an opened state and an ordinary read mode where the source document is read according to an instruction by a user regardless of the state of the document cover, a timer section measuring elapsed time since switching to the continuous read mode, and a reset section resetting the elapsed time when the detection section detects the closed state in the continuous read mode, wherein the switching section switches from the continuous read mode to the ordinary read mode when the elapsed time reaches a first predetermined time.

Upon receipt of facsimile data, the digital multifunction device converts one page worth data to image data of PDF or TIFF format each time the one page worth data is received. An internet terminal is capable of transmitting and receiving voice signals to and from a telephone terminal having a handset. If the internet terminal receives an incoming call when disconnected from the telephone terminal, then the internet terminal stores a voice message from a calling party and issues a notification to the telephone terminal regarding the stored voice message when the telephone terminal is subsequently connected to the internet terminal.

An Internet telephone system is provided with an Internet terminal device capable of connecting with the Internet and transmitting and receiving audio signals for a voice communication. The Internet terminal has a communication unit through for transmitting/receiving the audio signals to/from the Internet. Communication terminal apparatus and method

The invention provides a copying system that can perform copying processing for a color original document within a short time. In a color copying system, images on a color original document are read by a scanner of a multi-function center (MFC), as analog RGB data. The analog RGB data is converted into digital binary CMYK data by an ASIC. The converted digital binary CMYK data is transmitted to a PC. The binary CMYK data is image data that can be printed by a printer of the MFC, so that the binary CMYK data does not have to be converted in the PC. Therefore, when the binary CMYK data for all pages of the original documents is received by a color copying application of the PC, the binary CMYK data is then sequentially transmitted to the MFC in the order of printing by the printer of the MFC, according to the copying designation by an operator. The color copying system can accurately perform the copying processing for the color original document within a short time.
