According to the present invention, there is provided a method of manufacturing a light-transmitting member for an image reading apparatus configured to read an image on a conveyed original, the method including: disposing a plurality of substrates each having a first light-transmitting surface and a second light-transmitting surface opposed to each other so that a part of the first light-transmitting surface of one of two adjacent substrates is in contact with a part of the second light-transmitting surface of another of the two adjacent substrates; and providing coating on the first light-transmitting surface of each of the plurality of substrates.

There is provided is a spectrometer having a concave reflection type diffraction element, wherein, among surfaces other than a diffraction surface of the diffraction element, non-diffraction surfaces which are located outside the diffraction surface at the same side as the diffraction surface are a glossy surface, the spectrometer includes a light detection unit which is located at an imaging position of a first-order diffracted light diffracted by the diffraction element to receive the first-order diffracted light, and the light detection unit is disposed inside optical paths of light beams regularly reflected on the non-diffraction surfaces outside the diffraction surface. Accordingly, it is possible to effectively suppress a stray light reflected on the surfaces other the diffraction surface from being incident into the light detection unit and to detect the light spectrally diffracted by the diffraction surface at high accuracy.

At least one exemplary embodiment is directed to an optical scanning apparatus that employs a short wave light source to constantly maintain a spot having a tiny diameter, even when an environmental temperature change occurs, by employing a lens and/or a diffractive optical element.

An optical scanning device has: a first optical system for converting a flux of light that has been emitted from a light source into another flux of light; a second optical system for focusing the flux of light that has been converted by the first optical system as a linear image elongated in the main scanning direction; deflecting means for reflecting and deflecting the flux of light that has left the second optical system; and a third optical system for guiding the flux of light that has been deflected by the deflecting means onto a surface to be scanned. The flux of light emitted from the light source is entered into a deflection surface of the deflecting means at a limited angle in the sub-scanning section and, by setting parameters in a manner that satisfies a given condition, the pitch unevenness can effectively be reduced in the optical systems.
