A film laminating apparatus attaches films to electronic circuit boards, such as printed circuit boards and silicone boards or wafers. The film laminating apparatus conveys a plurality of boards at intervals, forms pieces of lamination film at the intervals of the boards on a base film with a processing area between boards and continuously conveys the base film into a reduced-pressure chamber having a board loading port, a film loading port, a laminating mechanism for attaching the lamination film on the base film to the boards, and a board unloading port for ejecting the laminated boards. Shutters are provided for opening and closing shutter sections provided in the board loading port and the board unloading port of the reduced-pressure chamber, and a vacuum source is provided for evacuating the reduced-pressure chamber when the reduced-pressure chamber is closed by the shutters. A shutter section is equipped with a shutter in the film loading port of the reduced-pressure chamber, and a detector is provided for detecting when a processing area in the film between boards being fed into the reduced-pressure chamber is in the shutter section of the film loading port. A control means then operates the shutter means of the film loading port, the board loading port, and the board unloading port to close the reduced-pressure chamber according to the result of detection by the detecting means, and actuates the vacuum source to evacuate the reduced-pressure chamber to a desired degree of vacuum. Then, the laminating means is actuated.

An apparatus for reaction according to the present invention includes a horizontal-type reactor having first and second portions and a liquid circulator for circulatorily feeding a liquid from the first portion of the reactor, through the second portion of the reactor which is spaced apart from the first portion of the reactor in the direction of axis of the reactor. The reactor includes stirring blades on a stirring shaft whereby the liquid can be stirred in the rotational directions of the stirring blades of the horizontal-type reactor, while it is stirred in the axial direction thereof by the liquid circulator, thereby enabling the liquid to be stirred uniformly throughout the interior of the reacting apparatus without damaging surface renewal effects on a vapor-liquid interface.

A method for detecting a polymerization rate, wherein a polymer composition in a polymerization reaction process is sampled out and can be measured, and is separated into a volatile component and a non-volatile component, and the polymerization rate of the polymer composition is determined using the measured amount of the volatile component and/or non-volatile component, and also possibly the measured amount of the sample. Such method is best suited for detecting the rate of polymerization of polymer compositions. This enables proper quality control of the polymer composition in the polymerization reaction process.

High impact polystyrene having excellent properties is produced by a continuous process comprising feeding rubber and styrene continuously to a multistage horizontal dissolving tank to dissolve the rubber completely with stirring by increasing the temperature of each stage stepwise along the liquid flow direction, feeding the rubber solution to a first polymerizer to effect phase inversion of the rubber and preliminary polymerization of styrene; feeding the pre-polymerized solution to one or more horizontal type polymerizers to undergo bulk polymerization while removing the heat generated therein; and feeding the polymerized solution to a monomer separator to remove the remaining monomer.

Continuous bulk polymerization of thermoplastic resins is carried out by using a horizontal continuous polymerizer comprising a cylindrical body, one or more shafts having the stirring elements and disposed in said body, a material inlet provided at an end of said body in its longitudinal direction, and a material drawing means and an outlet provided at the other end of said body. A monomer is evaporated from a polymerization solution while controlling the pressure in said polymerizer at a predetermined level and, concurrently with this, a monomer is directly sprayed to the free surface of the polymerization solution in the polymerizer from several locations of said polymerizer in its longitudinal direction, whereby to eliminate the heat of polymerization reaction and the heat of stirring to allow progress of the polymerization reaction under a predetermined temperature condition.

In a continuous sugar evaporator-crystallizer having a plurality of evaporating-crystallizing vessels as stages, each evaporating-crystallizing stages being communicated one to another in series and being provided with a means for feeding an aqueous sugar solution, a heating means and a means for withdrawing generated steam, by feeding an aqueous sugar solution to each evaporating-crystallizing stage, heating the aqueous sugar solution in each evaporating-crystallizing stage, thereby evaporating water off the aqueous sugar solution and crystallizing sugar crystals, and withdrawing the generated steam from each of the stages, while feeding seed sugar crystals to the first evaporating-crystallizing stage and withdrawing the resulting sugar crystal slurry from the last evaporating-crystallizing stage, sugar crystals of high quality is obtained in the slurry with an effective suppression of occurrence of conglomerated sugar grains by providing sugar crystal distances of 0.26 to 0.59 mm in the solution in the first evaporating-crystallizing stage, and feeding the aqueous sugar solution to each of intermediate evaporating-crystallizing stages excluding the first and last evaporating-crystallizing stages at a substantially equal feed rate, and making the feed rate of the aqueous sugar solution to the first evaporating-crystallizing stage at least 1.5 times the feed rate to each of the intermediate evaporating-crystallizing stages.
