Systems and methods for downhole tubular cutting applications can include a cutting tool that with a cutting head, an anchor module, and a hydraulic module that actuates both. Arms of the anchor module open to an inner surface of a tube prior to blades of the cutting head opening to the inner surface. The blades can be operated by a piston. The piston can include a detent that travels across an actuation profile. This can allow a processor to track the cutting position. The processor can adjust the rotational speed of the blades based on feedback from the system.

Downhole tool for automatic tubular cutting

An electric bonnet includes a housing; a guide piston disposed in the housing; an electric motor having a motor shaft; a rear housing connected to the housing; a gearbox assembly disposed in the rear housing, the gearbox assembly being coupled to the motor shaft of the electric motor; and a roller screw assembly disposed in the rear housing. A first end of the roller screw assembly is connected to the gearbox assembly, and a second end of the roller screw assembly is connected to the guide piston. Rotation of the motor shaft of the electric motor transmits rotary motion to the gearbox assembly, which transforms the rotary motion into linear motion using the roller screw assembly. The linear motion of the roller screw assembly actuates the guide piston.

The present disclosure generally relates to a downhole mechanical services tool, and more particularly to a hydraulic power system which makes power available to rotary tools for actuating a variety of accessories of cutting, milling, brushing and polishing. For example, a downhole well tool hydraulic power system may include a rotary module configured to rotate relative to a body of the downhole well tool hydraulic power system. The downhole well tool hydraulic power system may also include a hydraulic pump module configured to pressurize a compensated hydraulic fluid for delivery to the rotary module. The downhole well tool hydraulic power system may further include a compensator configured to deliver the compensated hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic pump module. In addition, the downhole well tool hydraulic power system may include a pressure barrier between the hydraulic pump module and the rotary module.

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for improved debris collection within a wellbore. An example method can include inserting a tool into a wellbore, where the tool includes an input shaft, an auger shaft, and a collection chamber. The input shaft can be rotated in a first direction, causing rotation of the auger shaft. The rotation of the auger shaft conveys debris into the collection chamber. The input shaft can also be rotated in a second direction, which causes the auger shaft to retract within the collection chamber. The retraction of the auger shaft within the collection chamber prevents the debris from escaping the collection chamber. The tool can then be removed from the wellbore while preventing the collected debris from escaping the collection chamber.

A mechanical service tool that may include one or more anchors, a cutter, a communication and control system, and one or more sensors, as well as methods for operating the mechanical service tool, are provided. The one or more anchors may extend radially from the mechanical service tool and the cutter may move relative to the mechanical service tool. The cutter may include a drilling bit. The communication and control system may obtain remote commands that control the cutter, the one or more anchors, or both. The one or more sensors may detect operational conditions of the mechanical service tool and may be operatively coupled to the communication and control system.

Systems and methods for downhole service tools

A downhole tool may include an anchor coupled to a first portion of the downhole tool and configured to engage with a feature of a wellbore to affix the first portion to the feature. The downhole tool may also include a linear actuator coupled to the first portion and to a second portion of the downhole tool, where the linear actuator is configured to move the second portion relative to the first portion and the feature. The downhole tool may further include a cutting head coupled to the second portion and including one or more cutters configured to engage with the feature. The downhole tool may also include a control system configured to obtain remote commands to control the anchor, the linear actuator, the cutting head, or a combination thereof.

A system for performing a mechanical operation on a wireline is described including: a motor; a gear train coupled to the motor, the gear train including a first and a second rotational output, the first and second rotational outputs having different rotational speeds relative to each other; a fluid pump coupled to both the first and second rotational outputs, the fluid pump including: a pump housing coupled to the first rotational output, and a pump input coupled to the second rotational output; and a milling bailer coupled to the housing of the fluid pump and configured to rotate with the fluid pump housing, the milling bailer including: a bailer portion shaped to intake fluid and allow the fluid to flow through a filter and the fluid pump; and a milling face including a bit and configured to perform a milling operation while fluid is flowing through the bailer portion.

Method and system for simultaneous wireline milling and debris collection

Systems and methods presented herein provide for cutting in a borehole or casing. A cutting device can include a first arm having a cutting blade, wherein the cutting blade has side cutting teeth and an axis of rotation that is substantially at a right angle with respect to an axis of the tool body. The cutting device can also include a second arm with a bumper. The first and second arms articulate away from the elongate body in different directions to reduce vibrations while cutting. A control device can automate the cut based on hydraulic pressure measurements. Additionally, the cutting device can also be extended or rotated on a rotary index. The cutting device can rotate around a J slot, in an example.

Cutting tool and controls for downhole mechanical services

Devices, systems and methods for cutting openings in a wellbore tubular by a slot cutting assembly having an anchoring system and a slot cutting tool. The anchoring assembly anchors the slot cutting assembly within the wellbore. The slot cutting tool has an extendable cutting blade that is pushed into the wellbore tubular to cut an opening through the tubular. The slot cutting tool may have an extendable stabilizing arm to stabilize and assist with cutting by the blade. The slot cutting assembly may have azimuth and depth sensors to assist with positioning the tool at a desired position downhole. A surface system may be used to control the position of the slot cutting assembly downhole.

A service tool that may be inserted into a tubular, the service tool includes an anchoring system. The anchoring system includes a body having a first end, a second end, and an opening extending along a portion of the body between the first end and the second end and a gripping assembly housed within and coupled to the body. The gripping assembly may anchor at least a portion of the service tool to the tubular, and the gripping assembly includes a plurality of anchor arms disposed within the opening and that may move relative to the body. The anchoring system also includes an actuator disposed within a central bore of the body and coupled to the gripping assembly. The actuator may apply a first axial input force in a first direction and a second axial input force in a second direction opposite the first direction to the gripping assembly, At least a portion of the gripping assembly translocates relative to the body in the first direction in response to the first axial input force to position the plurality of anchor arms in a radially expanded anchoring configuration, and the portion of the gripping assembly translocates relative to the body in the second direction in response to the second axial input force to position the plurality of anchor arms in a radially contracted configuration.

A method includes receiving, via a battery controller of a battery system, a timer value. The method also includes enabling, via the battery controller, the battery system to provide power to a release device in a wellbore upon receiving the timer value. Moreover, the method includes receiving, via the battery controller, an updated timer value, and the updated timer value changes the timer value, and the battery system continues to provide power to the release device at least until the updated timer value expires.
