A tool having a selectively positionable latch which governs access to an interior working region of the tool is described. The latch is selectively positionable between a closed position and an open position. For tools having multiple indenters for performing crimping operations, the latch can also include an indenter.

Dieless crimping tool

A tool head using a scissor style pair of jaws is described. The jaws may be provided with cutting, pressing, crimping, or other functional surfaces. The tool head includes a linearly positionable member which is engaged with the jaws. Upon linear displacement of the member, the jaws are pivotally displaced.

Large angular displacement assembly for press tools

A press frame for attaching connectors to workpieces such as cables and pipes is described. The press frame is adapted to be releasably attached to a hand-held, battery powered press tool. The press frame includes selectively interchangeable components that enable a wide range of different styles, sizes, and configurations of electrical connectors to be attached to cables.

A compression tool having a pair of jaw arms pivotal between side plates and having inner edges provided with laterally inwardly open opposed spring pin recesses providing an opening therebetween for a spring pin, and a spring associated with the pin and biasing the jaw arms in a closing direction and biasing the spring pin rearwardly of the spring pin opening has one or the other or both the spring pin opening and spring pin modified for the pin to be displaced from the spring pin opening or canted therein in response to a fracture of at least one of the jaw arms outwardly from the corresponding pin recess toward the outer edge of the jaw arm.

Roll grooving apparatus for rolling a circumferential groove in a pipe comprises a first support rotatably supporting a first grooving roll, a second support rotatably supporting a second grooving roll and being displaceable relative to the first support for displacing the second grooving roll toward and away from said first grooving roll, a stabilizer on the first support for stabilizing a pipe to be roll grooved, and first and second guards pivotally mounted on the second support for displacement therewith. The first guard engages the stabilizer, the second guard engages a pipe being roll grooved during a roll grooving operation and each guard is spring biased to engage the corresponding one of the stabilizer and a pipe being roll grooved. A member on the first support engages and displaces the second guard away from a pipe which has been roll grooved when the second support is displaced to move the second grooving roll away from the first grooving rolls.
