An apparatus for eye surgery may comprise a nozzle having a delivery lumen, an implant bay coupled to the nozzle, and an implant disposed in the implant bay. The implant may comprise an optic body, a leading haptic, and a trailing haptic. In some examples, the implant may be an intraocular lens. The apparatus may further comprise an actuator comprising a housing and a plunger disposed within the housing and a leading splay arm operable to splay the leading haptic within the implant bay. The plunger can be operable to advance the optic body from the implant bay to the delivery lumen after the leading splay arm straightens the leading haptic.

Haptic management for delivery of intraocular implants

A hybrid power system for delivering an implant to an eye using hydraulic fluid flow or pressure. An implant may be stored, advanced, and delivered to an eye using hydraulic fluid stored in a sterile container through a hollow advancement plunger. The plunger may rigidly advance the implant to a sealed position in a first phase, and then the implant may be advanced into the eye via hydraulic pressure or fluid flow in a second phase. The power system may provide a first cell having a first power density and a second cell having a second power density, wherein the second power density is greater than the first power density. A controller may use the first cell during the first delivery phase and the second cell during the second delivery phase.

Hybrid power delivery for surgical implants

A magnetically coupled drive module for delivering an implant to an eye. An implant may be stored, advanced, and delivered to an eye using a powered drive module. The drive module may be decoupled and sterilized for reuse.

Magnetically coupled power delivery for surgical implants

An intraocular lens (IOL) injectors and associated methods are described. The IOL injectors may include a collapsible portion configured to reduce the length of the IOL injector when the collapsible portion is altered from an uncollapsed configuration to a collapsed configuration. In some instances, an IOL may be advanced from a storage location to a dwell location when the collapsible portion is altered from the uncollapsed configuration to the collapsed configuration. The IOL injectors may also include a combination push and screw drive.

Intraocular lens injector

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for removably attaching a drive mechanism handpiece to an intraocular lens (IOL) cartridge that folds the IOL upon removal of a cap, are provided. The IOL cartridge comprises a nozzle and a housing comprising a slide. A compartment configured to receive an IOL is disposed within the housing. An interior portion of the slide is exposed to the compartment. The nozzle is in fluid communication with the compartment. The cap covers the nozzle and the slide. The cap is configured to expose the nozzle and advance the slide to fold the IOL upon removal of the cap.

Removable cap actuation for an intraocular lens cartridge

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for storing and/or shipping an intraocular lens (IOL) cartridge are provided. A system comprises a packaging comprising a passage. The IOL cartridge is removably disposed within the passage. The IOL cartridge comprises a nozzle and a compartment configured to receive an IOL. The nozzle is in fluid communication with the compartment. The IOL cartridge further comprises a dial configured to rotate upon withdrawal of the IOL cartridge from the passage, wherein an inner surface of the dial is exposed to the compartment. The dial is configured to fold the IOL and release the IOL cartridge from the packaging upon rotation of the dial.

Packaging-assisted actuation for an intraocular lens cartridge

An apparatus for eye surgery may comprise a nozzle having a delivery lumen, an implant bay coupled to the nozzle, an implant disposed in the implant bay, and an actuator coupled to the implant bay. The actuator may comprise a housing, a plunger disposed within the housing, a bore through the plunger, a first coupling proximate to a first end of the plunger, and a second coupling integral to the housing. The bore may be fluidly coupled to the implant bay. The first coupling may be configured to receive a hydraulic driver and fluidly couple a working fluid in the hydraulic driver to the bore. A portion of the plunger may be slidingly disposed through the second coupling. In some embodiments, the second coupling may be configured to retain a drive coupling of the hydraulic driver in a fixed position relative to the housing.

The IOL cartridge comprises a nozzle and a compartment comprising an IOL. The nozzle is in fluid communication with the compartment. The IOL cartridge further comprises a dial disposed adjacent to the compartment, wherein an inner surface of the dial is exposed to the compartment. The dial is configured to fold the IOL upon rotation of the dial. The IOL cartridge further comprises a plunger case in fluid communication with the compartment, wherein a plunger is movably disposed within the plunger case. The IOL cartridge is configured to removably attach to a handpiece. The system further comprises a packaging comprising a base, wherein the IOL cartridge is disposed within the base; a first removable cover configured to cover a first portion of the IOL cartridge; and a second removable cover configured to cover a second portion of the IOL cartridge, wherein the second removable cover is locked in place by the dial when the dial is in a non-rotated position.

Packaging-integrated manually actuated intraocular lens cartridge

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for removably attaching a drive mechanism handpiece to an intraocular lens (IOL) cartridge that folds the IOL upon retraction of a cap, are provided. The IOL cartridge comprises a nozzle and a compartment configured to receive an IOL. The nozzle is in fluid communication with the compartment. The IOL cartridge also includes a retractable cap that covers the nozzle and the compartment. The retractable cap is configured to expose the nozzle and fold the IOL upon retraction of the retractable cap. The IOL cartridge may also include a plunger case that is in fluid communication with the compartment, wherein a plunger is movably disposed within the plunger case.
