An example system includes an advancement mechanism to drive print media into a stacking region, a movable media guide arrangement and a controller. The movable media guide arrangement includes a pair of opposing media guides to receive opposing edges of a print medium therein and a translation mechanism to move the opposing media guides between at least two positions, the at least two positions including a deployed position and a retracted position. The controller is to actuate the translation mechanism to move the opposing media guides into the deployed position when the advancement mechanism transports a print medium into the stacking region and to actuate the translation mechanism to move the opposing media guides to the retracted position to release the print medium.

A hardcopy printing mechanism and a greeting card feeder retrofit kit therefor, along with a retrofitting method are provided for printing images on a first-sized media, and on both surfaces a second-sized greeting card media without removing the first-sized media from its normal supply tray. The hardcopy device may be an electrophotographic or inkjet printer preferably equipped with a duplexer module which inverts media from a printed first surface to an opposing second surface for printing an image thereon. For a printer having an alignment surface, and a width adjuster to push the first-sized media against the alignment surface, the greeting card feeder includes a biasing member which pushes the card stock against the alignment surface. The retrofit kit includes a supply of pre-scored greeting card stock and a software program with a group of greeting card images for a consumer to select from to print store-bought quality greeting cards.

A method for analyzing one or more criteria to select a media ejection sequence is provided. A media sheet quality such as stiffness may be determined and utilized to select an optimized ejection sequence. A print job characteristic, such as the location of marking material on the media, may also be determined and utilized to select an optimized ejection sequence.

An inkjet printhead service station for cleaning an inkjet printing mechanism includes a printhead wiping system having a grooved wiper blade tip for wiping ink residue from the printhead, which is especially useful for cleaning printheads having surface irregularities such as encapsulant beads, which are required to assemble the printhead. The wiper blade is supported by a sled to engage and wipe the printhead in a wiping direction, with the blade having a wiping tip which defines a transverse groove running transverse to the wiping direction. The wiper blade has opposing leading and trailing surfaces between which the groove runs, preferably without intersecting either the leading surface or the trailing surface. An inkjet printing mechanism having such a wiping system, and a method of cleaning an inkjet printhead are also provided.

A hide-away wiper and wiper scraper system has a wiper that is extended to wipe ink residue from an inkjet printhead installed in an inkjet printing mechanism, and following wiping, ink residue is scraped from the wiper during retraction into a hide-away rest position inside the scraper mechanism. For cleaning several inkjet printheads, several such hide-away wipers may be provided in like number for cleaning the printheads. The hide-away nature of these wipers allows for independent movement of the wipers between their rest and wiping positions, which facilitates the uses of independent wiping routines tailored for the servicing needs of each printhead, or type of printhead. An inkjet printing mechanism having a hide-away wiping system, along with a method of cleaning one or more inkjet printheads, are also provided.

Greeting card feeder operating system

An ink jet print cartridge having a first ink chamber containing a first type of ink and a second ink chamber containing a second type of ink. The body has a third fluid chamber containing an unpigmented fluid different from the inks. A printhead attached to the body has a set of orifices associated with each chamber. The inks may be reactive inks, and the third fluid a buffer to prevent precipitation reaction on the print head surface. The orifices for the buffer may be positioned between the orifices for the different inks to prevent mixing during wiping, except in the presence of the buffer.
