A system for controlling a compactor machine can include a first GPS receiver on one side of a screed of a paver machine and a second GPS receiver on a second side of the screed, the first and second GPS receivers configured to communicate location information of the first and second sides of the screed, respectively, to a compactor machine; and a controller configured to receive the location information from screed and define a pass pattern for the compactor machine in view of the location information.

Asphalt compactor pass planning

Aspects disclosed herein provide an operator training system that can train an operator about basic machine movements, operations, and applications, such as asphalt compactor rolling patterns, paving-by-numbers, milling-by-numbers, etc. with the use of a virtual reality headset at any point or time on a work site. The operator training system uses data received from the virtual reality headset and associated hand controls to guide the operator via training scenarios. The operator training system also includes providing immediate feedback on the outcome of the training scenario and may also identify one or more areas of improvement.

A method includes receiving sensor data indicative of a paved surface, and identifying a defect associated with the paved surface based at least in part on the sensor data. The method also includes determining that the defect is of a defect type based on determining that a value associated with the defect is within a value range associated with the defect type. The method further includes generating a command associated with the defect that, when executed by a machine, at least partially remedies the defect. The method also includes providing the command to an electronic device via a network.

System and method for correcting paving mat defects

An asphalt paver may include a tractor and a screed configured for towing behind the tractor. The screed may include a tow arm secured to the tractor at an adjustable tow point. The paver may also include a monitoring system configured for monitoring and displaying the position of the adjustable tow point. The monitoring system may include a sensor arranged at or near the tow point for sensing the position of the tow point and a computing system in communication with the sensor for displaying the position of the adjustable tow point. A method of paving involving adjusting paving parameters to avoid or compensate for movement in the tow point is also provided.
