Techniques for implementing a publish-subscribe messaging system are disclosed. An example device generates a topic string comprising a string of characters that represent a subscription to a requested publication. A subscription filter is computed based on the topic string. The device is configured to receive a publication, which includes a data payload and a publication filter. The device performs a bitwise comparison of the subscription filter and the publication filter to determine whether the publication is a destination match for the subscription. If the publication is a destination match for the subscription, the device consumes the data payload of the publication.

Various embodiments provide systems and methods for connecting wireless-enabled products to wireless networks. Customer network credentials may be stored in a server along with a customer identifier ('customer ID') during one-time registration. When a wireless-enabled product is purchased, a product identifier ('product ID') and the customer's ID are forwarded to the server, which correlates the two identifiers, linking the purchased product to the customer. When the wireless-enabled product is powered on, the product accesses the server via a public network connection, and sends the product ID and a security token to the server. The server uses the product ID and the security token to authenticate the product. Once authenticated, the server uses the correlated customer ID to look up the network credentials for the customer's private network, and provides the network credentials to the wireless-enabled product. The wireless-enabled product then uses the downloaded credentials to access the customer's private network.

An audio output device maintains a collection of policies, and concurrently receives multiple audio streams over a wireless network. The wireless device re-streams a first audio stream of the multiple audio streams to a second audio output device of one or more other audio output devices, based at least in part on (i) an audio type of the first audio stream, and (ii) a policy in the collection of policies for the audio type.

A system and a method are disclosed for on-screen display that indicates to the user the current point in the playback of the video within the context of the chapter delineations. The user can access a chapter selection feature that presents a preview image from each chapter along with a timeline representing the video, and an indication on the timeline of where the chapters fall along the timeline. Alternatively, short video segments replace the still images as representing the chapters for some or all of the chapters. The user can select a chapter in which to resume playing the video by selecting one of the images or video segments.

An audio output device that operates on a network to connect with a first source device. The connection to the first source device can be made using a first wireless port, so that the first source device streams a first audio content to the first wireless port of the audio output device. When connected to the first source device, the audio output device generates an advertisement for the network, which communicates that the audio output device is available to receive a connection to another source device. In this way, the audio output device generates a new wireless port to connect to a second source device when the connection with the first source device is active.

A system (and method and computer readable medium) are disclosed for configuring a digital media device to resume playback of content stopped at a first digital media playback device to resume at a second digital media playback device. The configuration detects a stop in play of content stored on a digital media storage device and determines digital media playback preference selections for the content played on the first digital media playback device. The configuration generates a playback preference file and determines a stop location for content, the stop location corresponding to a resume point for the content on the second media playback device. The configuration writes the playback preference file and the stop location to the digital media storage device.

Using Bluetooth to provide the network management functions such as device discovery, service discovery, security negotiation, and connection establishment. Upon a Bluetooth connection being established between the Bluetooth-enabled devices an IP channel availability query is made. This is accomplished by using information request signals from the Bluetooth L2CAP protocol layer. If an IP channel is available on both the devices and the communication modules using that IP channel are compatible the devices will then establish a secondary Internet Protocol (IP) based data channel between them.
