A particulate filter inspection system for a particulate filter includes a compressed air source, a primary conduit, a controller, a probe, and a gauge. The compressed air source is configured to draw air from an air source. The primary conduit is configured to receive the air from the compressed air source. The probe is coupled to the primary conduit and communicable with the controller. The probe is configured to interface with a face of the particulate filter to provide the air to only a sector of the particulate filter. The gauge is configured to determine a pressure of the air within the primary conduit when the probe is providing air to only a sector of the face of the particulate filter. The controller is configured to receive the pressure from the gauge, compare the pressure to a target upper pressure, and provide an indication that the particulate filter is dirty if the pressure is not lower than the target upper pressure.

Systems and methods for inspecting particulate filters

A method and system are provided for repairing a nozzle ring having a defect adjacent a transition between a ring plate and an inner skirt of the nozzle ring, comprising: forming at least one cut to detach at least one of a portion of the inner skirt, a portion of the transition, and a portion of the ring plate, thereby forming a joint surface and removing at least a portion of the defect; providing a replacement ring including replacement components for the detached at least one of a portion of the inner skirt, a portion of the transition, and a portion of the ring plate; and attaching the replacement ring to the nozzle ring at the joint surface using one of brazing or welding.

The particulate filter can include an inlet and an outlet, where the outlet includes openings to a plurality of outlet channels, and the inlet includes openings to a plurality of inlet channels. The outlet channels and the inlet channels are separated by a filer barrier. A fluid nozzle is positioned in contact with the outlet of the particulate filter over a first set of outlet channels. Fluid form the fluid nozzle is injected into the first set of outlet channels. While injecting the fluid, the position of the fluid nozzle is changed such that the fluid nozzle is positioned over a second set of outlet channels.

The pretreating machine includes a pretreater structured to form an interface layer on a component. The additive manufacturing machine is coupled to the controller. The additive manufacturing machine includes a material feed and a forming beam. The material feed is configured to selectively provide a first amount of material on the interface layer. The forming beam is configured to substantially melt the first amount of material, thereby forming a first layer of a first material deposit on the interface layer.

Systems and methods for adding material to castings

A pin comprising a conical body having a central axis and a cross-sectional area that decreases with distance from a first end to a second end. A coating applied to the conical body has a melting temperature that is lower than a melting temperature of the conical body. The coating melting temperature is lower than a friction temperature and the body melting temperature is higher than the friction temperature. The friction temperature is achieved at an interface of the pin and a component when the pin is forcibly positioned into the component to repair a defect. The coating comprises a material having a first tensile strength value of a bond formed between the conical body and the component in response to softening and rehardening of the coating.

A novel and improved motion sensor for high pressure fluid delivery devices is provided which effectively senses movement of a component in a high pressure environment while minimizing the likelihood of fluid leakage through a receiving cavity containing at least a portion of the sensor. The motion sensor includes a sealing surface shaped and positioned relative to a force resisting surface formed on an annular cavity surface of the receiving cavity so as to apply a fluid, e.g. fuel, pressure induced sealing force against the force resisting surface due to the high pressure fluid forces acting on the sensor body. The sealing surface may be conically shaped for contacting a complementary conically shaped force resisting surface and/or the sealing surface may extend perpendicular to the direction of the fluid forces acting on the sensor body for abutment against a complementary positioned annular land containing the force resisting surface.

A control valve comprising a valve housing including a valve cavity, an inlet means formed in the valve housing for directing fluid into the valve cavity, and an outlet means formed in the valve housing for directing fluid out of the valve cavity. The control valve further includes a valve element mounted for reciprocal movement in the valve cavity between open and closed positions and biased toward the closed position by fluid pressure forces. A valve seat is associated with the valve element which engages the valve seat when in the closed position and permits flow between the valve seat and the valve element when in the open position. A flow force inducing means is positioned adjacent the valve element for redirecting fluid from the inlet means through a predetermined flow path arranged relative to the valve element to cause fluid flow to impact the valve element and create flow induced forces of sufficient magnitude necessary to advantageously counteract the fluid pressure forces.
