A programmable control system includes a control module having one or more inputs to which an external sensor device may be connected, and one or more outputs to which an external actuator device capable of manual override and providing a status feedback signal may be connected. One or more signal inputting devices are provided which a human operator can utilize to enter a learn mode. A display can be used to indicate a mode of the control system, and a memory can be used to store the characteristics of an external sensor device connected to an input and an association between inputs and outputs. A controller/processor has both a learn mode and a run mode. The control module may interface with external actuator devices such as circuit breakers located in one or more panels via an intelligent control bus and an address module.

Energy management system

The present invention provides a power distribution system with a split section panelboard that provides two interior sections. Each section is supplied power from a separate power source. A common bus bridges the two sections. Remotely-operated circuit breakers for both the sections are connected to the common bus. A power interface unit converts power from one of the power sources to provide low voltage power for the circuit breaker motors and a control unit. The control unit in the panelboard controls the operation of the circuit breakers of both the sections.

A molded plastic current limiting circuit breaker includes an interrupter assembly that includes an over-molded magnet, arc stack, baffle stack, and a chamber liner in which a trip unit is described.

Current limiting circuit breaker

An undervoltage tripping unit for a power line circuit breaker features a holding solenoid and a boostig solenoid having their associated plungers coupled to move together so as to be retracted against the force of plunger biasing springs when both solenoids are energized. Release of the plungers from the retracted position is used to trip the associated power line circuit breaker when the line voltage falls below a tripping voltage level. The holding solenoid is continuously coupled to the circuit breaker power input terminals. The booster solenoid is energized through a plunger-actuated switch so as to be de-energized when the plungers are fully retracted or in a position proximate thereto.
