A system and method of determining a gas volume fraction in a conductive liquid includes: immersing a first electrode in the conductive liquid, wherein the first electrode is electrically connected to a resistor and a voltage source; immersing a second electrode electrically connected to the voltage source in the conductive liquid; determining resistance information indicative of an electrical resistance of the conductive liquid between the first electrode and the second electrode; and determining a gas volume fraction in the conductive liquid based on the measurement.

A collapsible bag or pouch for collecting samples of soil, mud, liquid and gases, having an internal mechanical seal and a heat sealable area near the opening that is protected during sample loading, preferably by a funnel detachable from the pouch. After loading and prior to heat sealing the pouch is secured from the outside by mechanical interlocking seal. The bag also has an air-tight port for sampling the gaseous headspace after the bag is sealed.

A gas sample extraction assembly for controllably accessing gas in a gas sample container includes a coupler body having a coupler bore and a coupler end for engaging the gas sample container; an upper member having an upper member bore; a biasing member disposed between the upper member and the coupler body; and a stem having a first portion coupled to the upper member bore and a second portion disposed in the coupler bore, the stem being movable relative to the coupler body between a first axial position and a second axial position, wherein the biasing member is configured to bias the stem in the first axial position.

Gas sampling apparatus

A method and apparatus for the collection, transportation and analysis of gas samples which may be required in various scientific, environmental and natural resource contexts is provided. The apparatus comprises a sampling container assembly for sampling a fluid. The container assembly comprises a body defining a sampling chamber having a first end and a second end, a first valve assembly fluidly coupled with the first end and a reactant material positioned within the sampling chamber for reacting with the fluid. After collection of the sample in the sampling container assembly, hazardous fluids are converted to non-hazardous materials that can be transported without additional hazardous material restraints. Further, the flow through design of the sampling container assembly allows for the collection of gases such as HS at low concentrations by flowing the gas over the reactant materials for longer periods of time.

A container for collecting water samples to determine dissolved gas includes a flask-type pouch with a spout. A removable cap and valve install on the spout. The valve includes an adapter that fits with an O-ring or other seal inside the mouth of the spout. The valve includes a valve element, which can be a one-way, self-closing type of valve, that fits with an O-ring or other seal inside the end of the adapter. A cap of the container fits over the adapter and affixes to the spout to hold the valve on the spout. In use, the cap can be removed so that the valve element and adapter can be removed for filling the pouch. Otherwise, the cap can remain in place so filling can be performed through the valve element. A tamper-evident ring on the cap may be provided to ensure the integrity of the sample contained in the flask.

The embodiments herein provide a container for a gas or fluid. The container includes a tubular body having a first end and a second end, a first plunger activated valve fluidly connected to the first end, and a second plunger activated valve fluidly connected to the second end. The gas or fluid may enter the container through the first valve, flow through the tubular body, and exit through the second valve.

Pressurized gas sampling apparatus

A canister for measuring the natural gas content of rock cores which (1) has an inner core-containment bag made of non-permeable plastic which can be flash evacuated, collapsing around the core and thus minimizing the amount of air present and improving the quality of the gas analyses and (2) which prevents the released gas from reacting with the outer canister. A procedure for using gas-sampling bags to periodically collect the gas released from the core so that (1) the volume of released gas can be measured at a later date using more convenient and precise laboratory methods, (2) the gas can be readily transported and stored, and (3) the gas can be easily submitted for analysis.

A method and apparatus for depositing a film on a substrate includes introducing a material and a carrier gas into a heated chamber. The material may be a semiconductor material, such as a cadmium chalcogenide. A resulting mixture of vapor and carrier gas containing no unvaporized material is provided. The mixture of vapor and carrier gas are remixed to achieve a uniform vapor/carrier gas composition, which is directed toward a surface of a substrate, such as a glass substrate, where the vapor is deposited as a uniform film.
