Smart material actuated fasteners

A push-on clip fastener for securing two components together, such as interior automotive components. The push-on clip fastener includes a housing, a cover and a spring. The housing may include an aperture, wherein the housing may be capable of being located over a stud to secure an interior automotive component there between. The cover may include a pair of legs, wherein the cover may be insertable into the housing. The legs may be inserted into the housing cause the spring to straighten. The spring may include a slot, wherein the slot may be aligned with the aperture in the housing. The straightening of the spring may cause a clamp load. The housing may also include projections located on each side of the housing. The cover may also include retaining features located on each side of the cover that may be engageable with the housing projections to secure the fastener together.

Process of making a component with a passageway

An access port cover is described. The access sport cover may seal an aperture located in a vehicle body whereby the access port cover may also provide access to a terminal located within the body. The access port cover may include a cover, a hinge mechanism and a linkage mechanism. The cover may include an outer portion and an inner portion, wherein the inner portion may include a first and a second end. The hinge mechanism may be located on each end of the inner portion. The linkage mechanism may be connected to the hinge mechanism, wherein the linkage mechanism may the said cover towards and away from the aperture. The cover and the linkage mechanism may be rotated into and stored within the body when the cover is not sealing the aperture in a closed position.

Access port cover

An integrated airbag assembly is disclosed. The assembly includes a support structure that provides a single, unitary component that is securable to the airbag and other components, such as grab handles and coat hooks. The airbag, the grab handles and the coat hooks secure to the support structure, such s by snap-fitting to the support structure. The assembly including the airbag, the grab handle and/or the coat hook is mountable to the vehicle, such as by snap-fitting the assembly to a roof rail of the vehicle. Accordingly, the assembly improves installation of the airbag and other components to the vehicle.

The present invention is directed to an apparatus and method for utilizing an airbag clamp for securing an airbag onto an inflating tube of an airbag system. An embodiment of the present invention includes a body, a first engaging portion, and a second engaging portion. The body may be capable of surrounding the device, wherein the body may include a first end and a second end that are capable of moving towards each other. The first engaging portion may be located at a first end, wherein the first engaging portion may include at least one plate. The second engaging portion may be located at the second end, wherein the second engaging portion may include at least one plate. The engaging portions may be capable of being fitted together and the plates may be capable of being fastened together to secure the clamp around the material and device.

Airbag clamp

A fastener for securing first and second decking boards with a joist is shown and described. The fastener may include a joist connecting member capable of engaging the joist, a board connecting member capable of engaging the first decking board, where the board connecting member is generally perpendicular the joist connecting member. The fastener may also include a retention feature laterally spaced from the board connecting member, where the retention feature is capable of engaging the second decking board.

An integrated airbag assembly is disclosed. A body mount included at least one clip, at least one plate and a sleeve. The clip may include a generally cylindrical body having a central aperture therethrough. The clip may further include at least one set of inwardly extending prongs. The clip may further include at least one set of outwardly extending prongs. The sleeve may have opposed openings capable of engaging a first clip and a second clip between their respective plates.
