A diaphragm for use in a pump includes a cover configured to contact fluid to pump the fluid and a backing disposed at least partially within the cover. The backing includes a flexible plate that extends outward relative to a core of the backing, the flexible plate configured to flex during reciprocation of the diaphragm. The cover is formed from a first polymer and the flexible plate is formed from a second polymer.

A positive displacement pump includes two fluid flow paths, two center sections with a common fluid valve, a changeover valve, and three fluid displacement members. Each center section contains a diaphragm shaft, and the two sections are separated by the third diaphragm. In low-pressure mode the pump operates as a typical positive displacement pump with pumping fluid supplied to one center section and the changeover valve allowing the fluid to freely circulate within the second center section. In high-pressure mode, the changeover valve is switched and the changeover valve allows the common fluid valve to supply pumping fluid to both center sections to drive the fluid displacement members therein, which generates a higher outlet fluid pressure.

The fluid section of an air operated double diaphragm pumpconsists of two fluid housings, an inlet manifold, and an outlet manifold. The housings are to be made in two parts. The preferred framematerial is glass fiber reinforced with polypropylene that is overmolded into final shape with an encapsulating material. The frameis designed so that the encapsulating materialcan flow from one side to the other allowing for a mechanical lock between the top surfaceand the bottom so as not to rely on chemical adhesion between the two materials.

Systems and methods for deriving a cardiac cycle signal by selecting images of a portion of a cardiovascular system include receiving a plurality of images from a scanner that have been recorded over a period of time. The images represent one or more locations along the extent of the cardiovascular system. The images are then selected based on common criteria determined from the plurality of images and without reference to an external signal. The common criteria comprises changes in the size of a cross section of the aorta, changes in the volume of the heart, changes in the area of a cross section of the heart. In addition, the criteria can include the mean pixel difference between adjacent images.

A ram plate which allows easy lifting and dropping of the plate even when a complete seal has been made with high-viscosity liquids inside a barrel. The system contains two alternative methods of depressurizing the internal liquids in order to more efficiently avoid vacuum and suction effect when the user attempts to raise the plate. The bleed stick components of the plate are completely independent of vent ports components. Such bleed stick components are levers which, when depressed, will move a cover and expose the internal liquids to outside air pressure via air vents. The vent port components operate through both gravity and potential energy of an internal spring, which place a given amount of downward pressure on a pneumatic cylinder which may or may not be enough pressure to move the cylinder and expose a vent to the outside atmosphere pressure.
