A reclosable locking container and method for packaging dry materials, comprising a box formed from a foldable substrate and a molded reclosable, locking fitment, said fitment being lockable in the open or closed position. The container of the invention may be adapted to provide barrier packaging of materials to extend the shelf life thereof by incorporating a barrier material, fin seal closure elements and optionally a skived side seam, and a tearable perforated opening.

Rigid insulated food tray

A composite susceptor packaging material for use in a microwave oven is disclosed comprising at least two spaced susceptor layers in overlying relation. By using two susceptor layers, the amount of microwave energy reaching food products packaged in such material can be controlled while still heating the surface of the food product to a high enough temperature for surface browning. In this manner the inside of the food product remains moist without drying out. Also disclosed are typical packages prepared from the composite susceptor material.

A bottle type container is fabricated by blow molding a continuous wall liner of thermoplastic polymer integrally to the interior wall surface of an oppositely matched pair of paperboard cladding jackets. Paperboard cladding jackets respective to each pair are joined substantially edge-to-edge along the meeting seam exclusively by the continuous liner wall lap. For container stability when resting on a flat surface, at least one folded ridge is formed in the bottom edge panel of both jackets.

A non-foil paperboard laminate having improved resistance to the migration of essential oils, flavors and vitamins in liquid packaging and improved oxygen barrier characteristics for both liquid and dry packaging has a paperboard sandwiched between two layers of a heat-sealable, low density polyethylene polymer and including a symmetrical five component barrier layer coextruded onto the surface of one of the low density polyethylene layers. The barrier layer includes low density polyethylene/adhesive tie layer/Ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer/adhesive tie layer/low density polyethylene.

Process for preparing a paperboard laminate

A laminate for blister pack applications is comprised of a paperboard substrate having a first printable surface and a second surface onto which there is applied a polymeric coating suitable for adhering the plastic blister to the paperboard. The polymeric coating comprises a coextrusion consisting of a polyolefin material such as low density polyethylene (LDPE) which gives good adhesion to the paperboard surface and an adhesive material such as an ethylene-methyl acrylate copolymer (EMA) which gives good adhesion to the plastic blister.

Paperboard laminate

A process is disclosed for preparing a high quality paperboard product with high brightness and a defect-free glossy surface. The product comprises a structure consisting essentially of a paperboard substrate onto one surface of which there is first applied a coating of a pigmented polyolefin and a subsequent coating of a clear polymeric material such as a polyester. The brightness and loss achieved for the paperboard product is superior to conventional coated paperboard, cast coated paperboard, or other laminated paperboards currently in use.
