A tooling fixture assembly for processing a component of a gas turbine engine is provided. The tooling fixture assembly includes a component nesting fixture for precisely positioning the component within the fixture using a plurality of datum locators. A transfer block is also positioned at a known location and orientation relative to the component and an adhesive is used to fix the relative position of the component and the transfer block. The component and the transfer block are then removed from the component nesting fixture and installed on a machine for drilling, machining, or otherwise processing the component. After the machining is complete, the adhesive may be removed, such that the component may be detached from the transfer block.

Tooling fixture assembly for processing a component of a gas turbine engine

A method for manufacturing a turbine nozzle assembly using a fixture including a biasing mechanism. The method includes moving the biasing mechanism from a biased first position to a second position using at least one of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical power, positioning at least one datum of the turbine nozzle assembly adjacent at least one datum location point on the fixture, and aligning the turbine nozzle assembly at least one datum with the at least one datum location point by releasing the biasing mechanism such that the biasing mechanism moves from the second position into contact with the turbine nozzle assembly.

Methods and apparatus for manufacturing components

A method for aligning a first and a second component for manufacturing using an alignment member. The first component includes at least one first datum and the second component includes at least one second datum. The method includes fixedly securing the alignment member to a fixture in a first orientation relative to the fixture, coupling the first component to the fixture such that the at least one first datum is aligned with a corresponding datum locator of a first datum nest of the alignment member, removing the first component from the fixture, repositioning the alignment member relative to the fixture from the first orientation to a second orientation, fixedly securing the alignment member in the second orientation, and coupling the second component to the fixture such that the at least one second datum is aligned with a corresponding datum locator of a second datum nest of the alignment member.
