A composite cooling film comprises an ultraviolet-reflective multilayer optical film and a reflective microporous layer secured thereto. The ultraviolet-reflective multilayer optical film is at least 50 percent reflective of ultraviolet radiation over a majority of the wavelength range of at least 340 but less than 400 nanometers. The reflective microporous layer has a continuous phase comprising a nonfluorinated organic polymer and is diffusely reflective of solar radiation over a majority the wavelength range of 400 to 2500 nanometers, inclusive. The composite cooling film has an average absorbance over the wavelength range of 8 to 13 microns of at least 0.85. An article comprising the composite cooling film adhered to a substrate is also disclosed.

Anti-reflective article includes a layer defining an anti-reflective surface. The anti-reflective surface includes a series of alternating micro-peaks and micro-spaces extending along an axis. The surface also includes a series of nano-peaks extending along an axis. The nano-peaks are disposed at least on the micro-spaces and, optionally, the micro-peaks. The article may be disposed on a photovoltaic module or skylight to reduce reflections and resist the collection of dust and dirt.

Various embodiments disclosed relate to multilayer films including hidden fluorescent features. The present disclosure includes a multilayer optical film including an isotropic multilayer optical film having first and second opposed major surfaces. The isotropic multilayer optical film reflects at least 50% of a light that is at least one of ultraviolet light or visible light, having an incident angle less than a cutoff angle from normal to the first major surface of the isotropic multilayer optical film, wherein the cutoff angle is in a range from 10&#xb0; to 70&#xb0;. The isotropic multilayer optical film allows at least 50% of the light having an incident angle of more than the cutoff angle from normal to the first major surface of the isotropic multilayer optical film to pass through the isotropic multilayer optical film. The isotropic multilayer optical film includes a marking on the second major surface of the isotropic multilayer optical film, the marking including at least one fluorescent compound. Various embodiments of multilayer optical films described herein are useful, for example, as anti-counterfeiting features, such as in identification documents or cards, currency, labels for pharmaceuticals or other high value products, or financial cards.

Silicone-based material

It has now been determined that an internal optical defect can be eliminated by controlling the relative speed mismatch between the resilient roll and the casting roll in a film extrusion coating process. In particular, slowing down the surface speed of the resilient roll relative to the casting roll when coating a biaxially orientated film was found to remove the optical defect. Conversely, speeding up the surface speed of the resilient roll relative to the casting roll when coating a uniaxially orientated film was found to remove the optical defect.
