A system including a gas turbine system including a compressor configured to compress an oxidant; a combustor configured to receive and combust a fuel; a turbine driven by combustion products from the combustor; an exhaust gas recirculation system configured to recirculate exhaust gas along an exhaust recirculation path; and an inlet sensor adjacent to the inlet of the compressor, the inlet sensor detects one or more characteristics; a generator driven by the turbine, wherein the generator generates electrical power and exports to an electrical grid; and a control system including: one or more dampers along the exhaust recirculation path and actuatable between open and closed positions; and a controller configured to receive sensor data, the sensor data associated with a characteristic at the inlet; and modulate at least one of the dampers based on the received sensor data to control an amount of exhaust gas injected into the compressor.

System and method for operating exhaust gas recirculation in gas turbines

In an embodiment, a method includes flowing an exhaust gas from a turbine of a gas turbine system to an exhaust gas compressor of the gas turbine system via an exhaust recirculation path; evaluating moist flow parameters of the exhaust gas within an inlet section of the exhaust gas compressor using a controller comprising non-transitory media programmed with instructions and one or more processors configured to execute the instructions; and modulating cooling of the exhaust gas within the exhaust recirculation path, heating of the exhaust gas within the inlet section of the exhaust gas compressor, or both, based on the evaluation.

Erosion suppression system and method in an exhaust gas recirculation gas turbine system

A system includes a gas turbine system having a turbine combustor, a turbine driven by combustion products from the turbine combustor, and an exhaust gas compressor driven by the turbine. The exhaust gas compressor is configured to compress and supply an exhaust gas to the turbine combustor. The gas turbine system also has an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. The EGR system is configured to recirculate the exhaust gas along an exhaust recirculation path from the turbine to the exhaust gas compressor. The system further includes a main oxidant compression system having one or more oxidant compressors. The one or more oxidant compressors are separate from the exhaust gas compressor, and the one or more oxidant compressors are configured to supply all compressed oxidant utilized by the turbine combustor in generating the combustion products.

System and method for oxidant compression in a stoichiometric exhaust gas recirculation gas turbine system

In one embodiment, a system includes at least one sensor configured to communicate a signal representative of blower vane position, wherein the blower vane is disposed in a blower of an exhaust gas recirculation system receiving exhaust from a gas turbine system and recycling the exhaust gas back to the gas turbine system. The system further includes a controller communicatively coupled to the at least one sensor, wherein the controller is configured to execute a control logic to derive a reference value for the blower vane position, and wherein the controller is configured to apply a direct limit, an model-based limit, or a combination thereof, to the reference value to derive a limit-based value, and wherein the controller is configured to position the blower vane based on the limit-based value.

Method and system for combustion control for gas turbine system with exhaust gas recirculation

A system includes a gas turbine engine that includes a combustor section having one or more combustors configured to generate combustion products and a turbine section having one or more turbine stages between an upstream end and a downstream end. The one or more turbine stages are driven by the combustion products. The gas turbine engine also includes an exhaust section disposed downstream from the downstream end of the turbine section. The exhaust section has an exhaust passage configured to receive the combustion products as an exhaust gas. The gas turbine engine also includes a mixing device disposed in the exhaust section. The mixing device is configured to divide the exhaust gas into a first exhaust gas and a second exhaust gas, and to combine the first and second exhaust gases in a mixing region to produce a mixed exhaust gas.
