A modular reaming device incorporable into a tubular string. The modular reamer can include a tubular body having a first end and a second end and an internal bore, the internal bore extending longitudinally through the tubular body from the first end to the second end. The tubular body has an external surface with an outer diameter with cutting elements extending from the tubular body beyond the outer diameter of the tubular body for engagement with a bore hole sidewall. Each of the first and second ends have a coupling for coupling engagement with a tubular string.

Modular reaming device

A poppet valve having an elongated tubular housing and an internal bore. A flange extends within the internal bore supporting an interior tubular member. The interior tubular member itself has a central aperture and an inwardly protruding lip extending into the central aperture. A stem having collet fingers may be partially received in the central aperture of the interior tubular member. The collet fingers have a protrusion which is engagable with the inwardly protruding lip. A biasing element is provided biasing the stem toward a first position. An elastomeric seal may be disposed around the stem. When the stem is in a first position the elastomeric seal forms a fluid tight seal preventing fluid flow through the internal bore, and wherein upon application of a predetermined fluid pressure the stem transitions from the first position to a second position, whereby fluid flow is permitted through the internal bore.

A check valve is provided having a magnetic plug and a magnetic seat. The magnetic seat and magnetic plug operationally engage so as to have a magnetic resistivity such that there is a first position in which the magnetic plug does not sealingly engage the magnetic seat and a second position where the magnetic plug is sealingly engaged with the magnetic seat.

A wiper dart includes one or more wiper elements disposed about a mandrel, each wiper element comprising a wiper cup that extends radially outward and rearwardly relative to the mandrel, and a nose assembly coupled to the mandrel. A drive element is disposed about the mandrel and includes a shoe and a cup coupled to the shoe. The cup extends radially outward and rearwardly from the shoe and exhibits a maximum diameter less than or equal to a maximum diameter of the one or more wiper elements, and the shoe provides at least one of axial and radial support to the cup.

A float valve assembly includes a cylindrical housing defining an inner flow path and a check valve is positioned within the housing and movable between an open position, where uphole and downhole fluid flow through the inner flow path is allowed, and a closed position, where uphole fluid flow is prevented while downhole fluid flow is allowed. An activation member is movably positioned within the housing between a first position, where the activation member holds the check valve in the open position, and a second position, where the activation member moves axially and out of engagement with the check valve. A drag body is coupled to the activation member and fluid flow in the downhole direction generates a drag force on the drag body that places an axial force on the activation member to move the activation member to the second position.

A packer assembly includes an elongate body, at least one sealing element disposed about the elongate body, and a shoulder disposed about the elongate body and positioned axially adjacent the at least one sealing element. A cover sleeve is coupled to an outer surface of the shoulder. An annular support shoe has a jogged leg, a lever arm, and a fulcrum section that extends between and connects the jogged leg to the lever arm. The jogged leg is received within a gap defined between the cover sleeve and the shoulder, and the lever arm extends axially over a portion of the sealing element.

Wellbore isolation devices and methods of use

A wellbore isolation device includes an elongate body and a packer assembly disposed about the elongate body and including upper and lower sealing elements positioned axially between an upper shoulder and a lower shoulder, a spacer interposing the upper and lower sealing elements and having an annular body that provides an upper end, a lower end, and a recessed portion extending between the upper and lower ends. An upper cover sleeve is coupled to the upper shoulder, and a lower cover sleeve is coupled to the lower shoulder. An upper support shoe has a lever arm extending over the upper sealing element and a jogged leg received within a gap defined between the upper cover sleeve and shoulder. A lower support shoe has a lever arm extending over the lower sealing element and a jogged leg received within a gap defined between the lower cover sleeve and shoulder.

A downhole system can include multiple sub-components of a downhole debris separator assembly that is modular. The system can also include multiple couplers arranged on or among the sub-components of the multiple sub-components. Each of the couplers can connect with others of the couplers in different combinations to form respectively different configurations of the downhole debris separator assembly.

A differential fill valve assembly for application in float collars or shoes in a well casing can provide a mechanism for releasing a flapper valve by advancing and activating sleeve of the valve assembly. The valve assembly includes a backpressure flapper valve and an activating sleeve slidably disposed within a housing. The activating sleeve initially maintains the flapper valve in an open position. The activating sleeve provides at least one ramp on an inner surface thereof. Fluid flow through the activating sleeve generates a pressure differential, across the activating sleeve that produces a net force on the activating sleeve to drive the activating sleeve downward, releasing the backpressure flapper valve.

A downhole assembly can include plates in series along a length of a tubular member. Plates can include particulate-blocking areas and pass-through areas. A pass-through area of a plate can be angularly offset from a pass-through area of another plate in the series. The plates may be angled so that particulate carried by fluid from a wellbore may be trapped by particulate-blocking areas that may be tilted away from the fluid source.

A downhole plug and method of activating multiple downhole tools in a subterranean formation are disclosed. The plug includes a detachable ring that enables the plug to land in and engage at least two different seats, each seat having a different profile. This in turn enables the plug to activate at least two separate downhole devices, one in an upper downhole tool and one in a lower downhole tool. The ring separates from the plug once a certain pressure is reached in the wellbore enabling the plug to travel downhole from the upper tool to the lower tool to activate the device in the lower downhole tool.

Multifunction downhole plug

A system for tracking an object in oil and gas wellbore operations wherein a releasable object carrying a first signal system is released into tube system associated with a wellbore. The first signal system communicates with one or more second signal systems positioned along the travel path of the object; along the surface of the formation; and/or throughout the wellbore. First signal system and the second signal system may communicate by RF signals. First signal system and any second signal systems positioned on the surface communicate by through-the-earth or very low frequency signals. A global positioning system may be utilized in conjunction with any second signal systems on the surface to identify the absolute location of the object in the underground wellbore. The first signal system carried by the object may be a piezoelectric system disposed to transmit a signal when the object experiences a predetermined pressure.

A method and apparatus for preventing fluid flow and contamination to a cement body includes a resin cap covering an exposed end of the cement body. The cement body may attach an inner sleeve to an outer sleeve. The fluid flowing through the outer sleeve is prevented from contacting the exposed surface by the resin cap. Resin caps at both ends of the cement body along with resin layers along the side may be included. The resin prevents contamination and creation of micro-annuli in the cement body.

Sealed downhole equipment and method for fabricating the equipment

A debris separator device for use with a casing system is provided. The debris separator device may include an impeller having a plurality of blades to generate a vortex of mud in the section of the casing system when the casing system is lowered into a wellbore. The device may also include a baffle disposed in the section of the casing system, the baffle having an annular cup shape that forms an outer circumferential pocket to capture debris from the vortex of mud. The impeller and baffle may enable the debris separator device to separate debris and other debris from a flow of mud through the casing system so that the debris does not clog a float collar of the system. The disclosed debris separator device may be flushable so that the device does not become clogged with debris and can thereby maintain auto-fill through the casing system.

A packer assembly includes an elongate body, an upper shoulder and a lower shoulder each disposed about the elongate body, and an upper sealing element and a lower sealing element each disposed about the elongate body and positioned axially between the upper and lower shoulders. A spacer interposes the upper and lower sealing elements and has an annular body that provides an upper end, a lower end, and a recessed portion extending between the upper and lower ends. A diameter of the annular body at the upper and lower ends is greater than the diameter at the recessed portion.
