A spoolie manifold including two or more spaced apart caps including outlets and one pair of caps connected together in flow communication by a jumper tube assembly. Jumper tube assembly including a jumper tube having first and second spoolies attached to opposite ends of the jumper tube. Ends may be welded into counterbores of the spoolies having spherical spoolie ends press-fitted into first and second sleeves in bores in pair of the caps and sleeves retained in bores with retainer clips. A duct connected in flow communication to an inlet of one of the caps. Spoolie manifold may include three spaced apart caps including a distributor cap between two port caps connected in flow communication to distributor cap by jumper tube assembly. Cap outlets may be feed strut ports in casing of turbine frame including hub spaced inwardly from casing and having spaced apart hollow struts with strut ports.

Gas turbine engine cooling air manifolds with spoolies

A tripod joint assembly for connecting first and second overlapping panel segments of a flowpath liner in a gas turbine engine includes a threaded fastener extending through an opening in the first overlapping panel segment and adjacent to an outer segment edge of the second overlapping panel segment disposed on the first overlapping segment. The assembly further includes a tripod plate having first and second plate edges and an access hole therebetween. The first plate edge contacts the first overlapping panel segment, the second plate edge contacts the outer segment edge of the second overlapping panel segment. The access hole is disposed around the threaded fastener. First and second washers are disposed around the threaded fastener, the first washer on the tripod plate opposite to the overlapping panel segments, and the second washer on the first washer opposite to the tripod plate. A threaded locknut secures the assembly.

Wear resistant frame liner joint assembly for a gas turbine engine

A low pressure turbine casing has a conical annular shell circumscribed about a centerline. A forward flange depends from a forward end of the annular shell and a forward hook extends aftwardly from the forward flange. First and second rails having first and second hooks, respectively, extend aftwardly from the annular shell. First and second cooling holes extend through the first and second rails, respectively. Cooling air feed holes extend through the forward flange. The first and second cooling holes may be radially disposed through the first and second rails, respectively, with respect to the centerline or disposed through the first and second rails at an oblique angle with respect to the centerline. A low pressure turbine casing and shroud assembly further includes a first annular cavity in fluid flow communication with the first cooling holes and the second cooling holes. A second annular cavity is in fluid flow communication with the first and second cooling holes.

Internal low pressure turbine case cooling

An annular hanger for supporting an annular wall element from a gas turbine engine annular outer casing is circumscribed about a centerline extending in opposite first and second axial directions and has an annular first hook extending in the first axial direction from said body section and an annular second hook extending in the second axial direction. One of the hooks has circumferentially spaced apart tabs extending equal axial lengths from the body section and corresponding notches circumferentially disposed between a corresponding adjacent pair of the tabs. The annular hanger is used to support at least in part a wall element from the outer casing as part of a bayonet mount. The bayonet mount further includes a bayonet slot on one of the casing and the wall element and the hanger tabs are received within the bayonet slot.

Gas turbine engine frame flowpath liner support

A stud for interconnecting adjacent flanges of a flanged joint in a tubular casing. The flanges each contain apertures to receive the stud and each flange is inclined relative to the casing outer surface, with one flange extending radially outwardly and the other flange extending radially inwardly, as a result of which one end of the stud extends externally of the flanged joint and the other end extends internally. The stud includes an external formation that is of non-circular form and that is carried by the stud between the threaded ends to extend radially outwardly. The external formation is adapted to be engaged by an anti-rotation member to prevent unintended rotation of the stud. The stud is removable from the flanged joint without the need to completely disassemble the joint to remove a broken stud.

The present invention provides a seal for a gas turbine engine, comprising an annular ring with an L-shaped cross-section having a radially extending leg and an axially extending leg. A plurality of corrugations are formed in the axial leg so as to make it compliant in the circumferential direction.

Thermally compliant discourager seal

An annular turbine frame has ring disposed coaxially about an axial centerline axis and includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart ports. A plurality of circumferentially spaced apart struts are joined radially to the ring by devises on the ring. Each strut has radially opposite first and second ends, and a through channel extending therebetween. Each of the channels is aligned with a corresponding one of the ports. Each of the ports has a port counterbore though a radially outer portion of the port forming a shoulder in the port. A seal is disposed within the port counterbore between the shoulder and the strut.

Turbine frame assembly

An annular turbine frame includes a first ring such as a radially outer casing disposed coaxially about an axial centerline axis and having a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart first ports. A plurality of circumferentially spaced apart hollow struts are joined radially to the first ring by a corresponding plurality of collars. Each strut has radially opposite first and second ends, and a through channel extending therebetween. Each of the collars is disposed between a respective one of the strut first ends and the first ring in alignment with a respective one of the first ports for removably joining the struts to the first ring. Each of the collars includes a base disposed against the first ring and has a plurality of mounting holes for receiving mounting bolts therethrough to removably join the base to the first ring. The base has a central aperture aligned with the first port. Each collar mounting hole has a hole counterbore through a radially outer portion of the collar mounting hole. A radially inner portion of the collar mounting hole is threaded to receive and hold a threaded insert which includes inner and outer threaded surfaces. A washer is disposed in the hole counterbore and the mounting bolts are disposed through first ring holes disposed through the first ring, the washer, and screwed into the threaded inner surface of the insert.
