Techniques for performing environmentally-trained time dilation are provided. According to certain embodiments, a computer system can determine an initial set of parameter values for implementing one or more time dilation algorithms with respect to a program, where the algorithms cause the program to observe a dilated view of time relative to real time, and where the initial set of parameter values is determined via one or more functions that take into account a current runtime environment of the system. The system can apply the initial set of parameter values to the time dilation algorithms. At a later point in time, the system can detect an event that causes a change in the current runtime environment. Upon detecting the event, the system can determine, via the functions, a new set of parameter values responsive to the change and apply the new set of parameter values to the time dilation algorithms.

Environmentally-trained time dilation

Techniques for mitigating timing attacks via dynamically triggered time dilation are provided. According to one set of embodiments, a computer system can track a count of application programming interface (API) calls or callbacks made by a program within each of a series of time buckets. The computer system can further determine that the count exceeds a threshold count for a predefined consecutive number of time buckets. Upon making this determination, the computer system can trigger time dilation with respect to the program, where the time dilation causes the program to observe a dilated view of time relative to real time.

Mitigating timing attacks via dynamically triggered time dilation

Techniques for mitigating timing attacks via dynamically scaled time dilation are provided. According to one set of embodiments, a computer system can enable time dilation with respect to a program, where the time dilation causes the program to observe a dilated view of time relative to real time. Then, while the time dilation is enabled, the computer system can track a count of application programming interface (API) calls or callbacks made by a program within each of a series of time buckets and, based on counts tracked for a range of recent time buckets, scale up or scale down a degree of the time dilation.

Mitigating timing attacks via dynamically scaled time dilation

When evidence is received, a determination is made as to whether the evidence is sufficient to determine whether to block transmission of virtual world data to a client device. If it is determined that the evidence is sufficient, then another determination is made as to whether to block transmission of virtual world data to the client device based on the evidence. If it is determined to block transmission of virtual world data to the client, a data protection and abstraction module is transformed to a first state that blocks transmission of the virtual world data to the client device.

Evidence-based virtual world visualization

Technologies are described herein for cross promoting real objects in a real world and virtual objects in a virtual world. A redemption code is received from a first participant in the virtual world. A virtual object corresponding to the redemption code is provided to the first participant. A request for information regarding the real object is received from a second participant of the virtual world and via the virtual object. Upon receiving the request via the virtual object, information regarding the real object is provided to the second participant and via the virtual object.

Real world and virtual world cross-promotion

Technologies are described herein for providing advertising in a virtual world. An inventory list identifying a plurality of virtual objects is provided. A selection of one or more virtual objects from the inventory is received. An advertisement list identifying a plurality of advertisements is further provided. A selection of one or more advertisements from the advertisement list is further received. The selection of advertisements is placed on the selection of virtual objects in the virtual world.

Providing advertising in a virtual world

Technologies are described herein for advertising with an influential participant in a virtual world. A facilitator rating is determined for each of a plurality of participants in the virtual world. The facilitator rating may indicate an influence of each of the plurality of participants on other participants in the virtual world. One or more participants are identified from the plurality of participants based on the facilitator rating. The one or more participants are utilized to provide an advertisement in the virtual world.

Advertising with an influential participant in a virtual world

Technologies are described herein for sharing advertisement revenue. An advertiser-generated avatar is provided to a first participant. The advertiser-generated avatar may be associated with an advertisement. Further, the first participant may be associated with a current avatar. The current avatar is replaced with the advertiser-generated avatar. While the first participant is associated with the advertiser-generated avatar, a level of interaction between the first participant and other participants is monitored. An amount of compensation to provide the first participant is determined based on the level of interaction between the first participant and the other participants. The compensation is provided to the first participant.

Advertising revenue sharing

Processor core data regarding a client device is received from the client device. A processor core configuration is determined based on the processor core data. The processor core configuration may include instructions for instructing the client device to dedicate a task to a processor core in a plurality of processor cores of the client device. The processor core configuration is transmitted to the client device. A configuration success message is received from the client device. The configuration success message may indicate that the client device successfully implemented the processor core configuration. A virtual world module is then transformed from a first state wherein certain functionality is not provided by the virtual world to a second state wherein the functionality is provided. The virtual world module may be configured to provide the virtual world to the client device.
