In an example, a circuit includes a first power switch device coupled between a voltage input and an output terminal, the first power switch device having a control input. A voltage divider circuit includes a first resistor and a second resistor. The first resistor is coupled between the voltage input and a sense node between the first resistor and the second resistor. The second resistor has a first terminal coupled to the sense node and a second terminal. A second switch device is coupled between the second terminal of the second resistor and an electrical ground terminal. A voltage clamp is coupled between the sense node and the electrical ground terminal.

Described examples include a semiconductor device having a resistor. The resistor includes a first terminal and a second terminal. Initially, the LED, which had been active, is deactivated, and a voltage for a current that corresponds to the persistence of the LED is generated. A tunable depletion diode is provided. Within this depletion diode, there is a depletion mode transistor that is coupled to the anode terminal at its gate and the cathode terminal at its drain. A system and method are provided to regulate resistance in a discontinuous time hot-wire anemometer. The solution removes supply voltage dependency on the mass airflow output signal. Operating the hot-wire anemometer using discontinuous time regulation offers lower system power, but introduces an inverse supply dependent term in the associated transfer function. This effect is removed by multiplying the output signal via a supply dependent signal.

A bias device that modifies the bias of a device based on an input signal to the device. The device may have a fixed bias, and the bias device can be connected in parallel with the fixed bias. The device can be an amplifier, such as a linear amplifier or a class AB amplifier. The bias device can be configured to provide maximum bias during the device's crossover time period.

The present invention provides a system for limiting energy levels across the output of a driver circuitry segment (). The system provides an output structure () adapted to drive an output load (). A transconductance component () is communicatively coupled to the output structure, and adapted to output a transconductance current that is proportional to the voltage across the output structure. A scaling component () is communicatively coupled to the output structure, and adapted to output a scaled current that is proportional, by some scaling factor, to the current through the output structure. A qualifying component () is communicatively coupled to the scaling component, and adapted to activate a trigger component () when the scaled current passes a first threshold. The trigger component is communicatively coupled to the qualifying component, the transconductance component, and the output structure. Responsive to activation from the qualifying component, the trigger component receives the transconductance current and accumulates charge, for an amount of time inversely proportional to the transconductance current's magnitude, and triggers shut off of the output structure when the accumulated charge passes a second threshold.

Versatile system for output energy limiting circuitry

In accordance with the teachings of the present invention, a system and method for regulating bridge voltage in a discrete-time hot-wire anemometer is provided. In a particular embodiment, the hot-wire anemometer includes a bridge circuit including a hot-wire resistor, first and second input terminals, and first and second output terminals, the hot-wire resistor having a resistance dependent at least in part on an airflow past the hot-wire resistor. The hot-wire anemometer further includes a first operational amplifier coupled to the output terminals of the bridge circuit, the first operational amplifier operable to generate an output signal in response to a voltage differential across the first and second output terminals of the bridge circuit, and a second operational amplifier operable to generate an output signal in response to the output signal of the first operational amplifier and to a discontinuous time control signal. A switching mechanism cycles a supply voltage to the input terminals of the bridge circuit in response to output signal of the second operational amplifier such that the supply voltage is intermittently connected to the input terminals the bridge circuit, and an inductor coupling the switching mechanism to the first input terminal of the bridge circuit operable to low-pass filter an output voltage of the bridge circuit.
