The present invention is within the field of chromatography. More precisely, it relates to a novel chromatography medium, namely a hydrophobic medium provided with different lids excluding molecules over a certain size due to the porosity of the hydrophobic medium and/or the porosity of the lid. The invention also relates to use of the separation medium for purification of large molecules, which do not enter the separation medium, as well as small molecules, which enter the separation medium and are eluted from there.

Methods and biosensor systems for improved evaluation of an interaction between an analyte in a fluid sample and a ligand immobilized on a sensor surface of a biosensor are provided. In one example, a method is provided which includes allowing a plurality of fluid samples to flow across a first sensor surface and a second sensor surface having a ligand immobilized thereon, where the fluid samples include a solvent (for example, an organic solvent with bulk effects such as DMSO) at known concentrations. The method further includes creating a data set for each fluid sample and forming a clean data set with outliers removed. Software for performing steps of methods disclosed and a computer readable medium for storing the software are also provided.

Method and system for improving the evaluation of an interaction between an analyte and a ligand using a biosensor

A method includes spraying a liquid including polymer and a gas substantially inert to the liquid respectively from a first and second orifice of a nozzle into air to form mist of beads. The beads then are collected with a collecting medium at a temperature in a range from about &#x2212;10&#xb0; C. to about 80&#xb0; C. The collecting medium includes at least one of water and alcohols.

Method and device for making polymer microparticles

The invention discloses a separation matrix with a porous solid support and a plurality of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) polymer chains covalently attached to the solid support. The present invention relates to a method for endotoxin removal from a sample comprising the following steps: combining the sample comprising one or more target molecule(s) with a chromatography media comprising beads having an inner porous core functionalized with ligands capable of binding endotoxin and an outer porous layer without functional groups and a pore size small enough to exclude the target molecule from the inner core; and collecting the sample from the media, wherein the sample comprises an endotoxin level which is at least 75% less, preferably 90% less, than before the removal and the yield of the target molecule is at least 75%.

The present invention relates to liquid clarification. More closely, the invention relates to beverage clarification, such as reduction of colloidal (not microbial) haze-causing substances in beer or related beverages such as wine, juices, flavorings etc. The method of the invention uses a hydrophilic surface for adsorption of haze-forming substances by hydrogen bonding interaction properties between the surface and the haze-forming substances.

Liquid clarification

The present invention relates to a separation matrix comprised of a support to the surfaces of which polymer chains have been coupled, wherein each polymer chain presents recurring proton-donating groups and at least the surface of the support is substantially hydrophilic. In the most advantageous embodiment, the support is porous cross-linked agarose, the polymers are poly(acrylic acid) and the proton-donating groups are carboxyl groups. The matrix is useful e.g. to remove PEG from pegylated and/or native compounds in a liquid. Accordingly, the invention also encompasses a method, such as a chromatographic method, wherein the separation matrix according to the invention is used, for example as a pre-treatment of a reaction mixture that comprises unreacted PEG, pegylated proteins and native proteins.

Matrix for separation of polyethers and method of separation

The present invention relates to magnetic beads suitable for, for example, isolation of proteins, cells, and viruses and also for diagnostic applications and cell cultivation. The magnetic beads are composite beads with an inner core of metal particles, which are coated with an inert synthetic polymer and these are then enclosed in a hydrophilic porous polymer, preferably agarose. This provides porous biocompatible beads without metal leakage. The beads may be used for cell cultivation or for chromatography. When the beads are used for chromatography the agarose layer is preferably provided with ligands having affinity for selected biomolecules.

Magnetic beads comprising an outer coating of hydrophilic porous polymer and method of making thereof

A method is provided for comparing multiple samples of cell extract containing a plurality of components. The method comprises the steps of preparing at least two samples of cell extract from at least two groups of cells and of exposing each of said sample of said cell extract to a different one of a set of matched markers, e.g. luminescent markers, to bind the marker to the cell extract to label the cell extract, each marker within said set of markers being capable of binding to the cell extract and can be individually detected from all other markers within said set. The samples are then mixed to form a mixture and said mixture is electrophoresed to separate the components within the cell extract. At least two electronic images of the electrophoresed mixture are obtained (I) by detection of the individual markers, each image being represented by detection of a marker different from the others. One resultant electronic image (I) of the obtained at least two electronic images is created (II) and analyzed in order to identify spot analysis areas (III). The identified spot analysis areas are applied on the respective at least two electronic images for evaluating said areas in order to detect spots representing components of said cell extracts (IV).
