A gravity-based filter cartridge having a cup-shaped upper part and a cup-shaped lower part, the upper part having a main axis (X), a first rim at a first axial end, a hole-free section at a second axial end, and at least one water inlet between the hole-free section and the first rim, the lower part having a second rim and at least one water outlet, wherein filter media is arranged in the lower part, the filter cartridge further including a mesh fixated to the upper part along a closed path, wherein the mesh is further fixated to the hole-free section radially inwards of the closed path as well as a method for manufacturing the same.

Filter cartridge

A filter cartridge, in particular gravity-operated filter cartridge, having a body portion with at least one water outlet and a head portion with at least one water inlet and at least one air outlet, the head portion being arranged on top of the body portion, the body portion and the head portion together forming a housing with an inner volume, the head portion having a lower rim defining a bottom opening of the head portion, the filter cartridge further having a mesh located in the inner volume and attached to the head portion along the lower rim, the mesh separating the inner volume into an upper volume defined by the mesh and the head portion and a lower volume defined by the mesh and the body portion, treatment media being arranged in the lower volume. In order to improve the flow characteristics the filter cartridge has at least one holding-down device for the mesh, the holding-down device being movable from a standby position into an active position, in which the holding-down device is located at least partially between the mesh and the bottom opening.

Lid for a filter cartridge

A method of manufacturing a cartridge for a fluid treatment system, wherein the cartridge includes a housing defining at least one chamber for a fluid treatment medium, includes providing a cartridge housing part including at least one wall defining at least one opening closable by a filter element. The filter element includes a porous body for at least mechanically filtering fluid flowing into the filter element through at least one first surface area of the filter element, through the porous body and out through at least one second surface area of the filter element. The filter element includes a rim, covering at least a peripheral face of the porous body so as to frame the first and second surface areas. The filter element is combined with the cartridge housing part so as to close at least one of the at least one openings by bonding the rim to the cartridge housing part.
