The present disclosure relates in a first aspect to a method of detecting speech of incoming sound at a portable communication device. A microphone signal is divided into a plurality of separate frequency band signals from which respective power envelope signals are derived. Onsets of voiced speech of a first frequency band signal are determined based on a first stationary noise power signal and a first clean power signal and onsets of unvoiced speech in a second frequency band signal are determined based on a second stationary noise power signal and second clean power signal.

A hearing device includes: a first microphone and a second microphone for provision of a first microphone input signal and a second microphone input signal, respectively; a voice detector module configured to process the first microphone input signal and the second microphone input signal, the voice detector module configured to detect own-voice of a user of the hearing device; a processor configured to process the first microphone input signal and the second microphone input signal for provision of an electrical output signal based on the first microphone input signal and the second microphone input signal; and a receiver configured to convert the electrical output signal to an audio output signal; wherein the voice detector module is configured to notify a detection of the own-voice to the processor if at least two of a first voice criterion, a second voice criterion, and a third voice criterion are satisfied.

Hearing aids with self-adjustment capability based on electro-encephalogram (EEG) signals

A method for self-calibrating of a hearing device (which includes an ear canal microphone, an external microphone, and a receiver) includes: obtaining an input signal with the external microphone; providing an output signal with the receiver; measuring the output signal using the ear canal microphone; predicting an output response based on a gain setting; determining a difference between the predicted output response and the measured output signal; and calibrating the hearing device by controlling a gain parameter based on the difference.

Methods of self-calibrating of a hearing device and related hearing devices

A hearing device includes: a first input transducer configured to convert an acoustic signal into a first input signal; a processing unit configured to provide a processed signal based on the first input signal; an acoustic output transducer configured to provide an audio output signal of based on the processed signal; a second input transducer configured to provide a second input signal based at least on the audio output signal from the acoustic output transducer and a body-conducted voice signal from a user of the hearing device; and a user voice extraction unit connected to the processing unit for receiving the processed signal, and connected to the second input transducer for receiving the second input signal, wherein the user voice extraction unit is configured to extract a voice signal based at least on the second input signal and the processed signal.
