A bone nail () for the heel includes: a front portion () determined for insertion into one or more bones () or bone fragments of the heel and having a tip (), and an arc-shaped main portion () extending from the front portion () and having a rear end (), wherein the main portion () includes a tapered shape such that a cross sectional diameter of the main portion () within at least one first section () increases towards the rear end (). According to embodiments, a curvature of the arc-shaped main portion () includes a radius of curvature rwhich amounts to at least 130 mm. According to other embodiments, the tapered shape is a conical shape.

Bone nail for the heel

An intervertebral implant includes a body having a first face, a second face connected to and opposite the first face, a width and a length at least as long as the width that extend around the first and second faces, and first and second connection portions for connecting the implant to a separate holding member. The first and second connection portions each includes a hollow space accessible from outside the body through an opening formed between the first and second faces. The openings are elongate and extend away from one another around the implant from a same first side that defines the length of the body to respective second and third sides opposite to one another that define the width of the body, and are arranged such that the first and second connection portions are simultaneously engageable by the holding member.

A system for spine surgery includes a rod with a longitudinal axis and a connection portion, and a rod insertion device including a rod holding member with a central axis and a rod engagement portion, wherein at least part of a shape of the rod engagement portion substantially matches at least part of a shape of the connection portion to engage the connection portion in a fixed manner at more than one distinct rotational orientation around the longitudinal axis. When the connection portion is engaged with the rod engagement portion, when viewed in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, a cross-section of the connection portion has a maximum height measured in a direction of the central axis of the rod holding member that is greater than a maximum width of the connection portion measured in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis.

A polyaxial bone anchoring device includes: an anchoring element having a shaft for anchoring in a bone and a head, the head having a spherically-shaped outer surface portion; a receiving part configured to be pivotably connected to the head, the receiving part having a top end and a bottom end, a longitudinal axis extending through the top end and the bottom end, a channel transverse to the longitudinal axis for receiving a rod, and an accommodation space for accommodating the head, the accommodation space having a lower opening at the bottom end, a sleeve-like insert piece configured to be positioned around a portion of the head and to pivot in the receiving part, the insert piece having a spherically-shaped outer surface portion, wherein a lower edge of the insert piece extends past the lower opening in a direction away from the receiving part when the insert piece is seated in the receiving part in a position in which a central axis of the insert piece is coaxial with the longitudinal axis, and wherein the insert piece has an opening with a diameter greater than or equal to a maximum diameter of the head when the head is not in contact with the insert piece; a pressure member configured to be arranged at least partially in the accommodation space, the pressure member having a lower surface portion configured to contact the head to exert pressure onto the head when the head and the pressure member are arranged in the receiving part; wherein when the head, the insert piece, and the pressure member are arranged in the receiving part, the insert piece is tiltable with respect to the longitudinal axis of the receiving part and with respect to a longitudinal axis of the anchoring element, and wherein the anchoring element and the insert piece can be locked at respective angles relative to the longitudinal axis of the receiving part by exerting pressure with the pressure member onto the head.

Polyaxial bone anchoring device with enlarged pivot angle

A coupling device for coupling a rod to a bone anchoring element includes a receiving part with a head receiving portion for receiving a head of the bone anchoring element, a rod receiving portion for receiving the rod, a downwardly facing surface, and an upwardly facing surface below and monolithically formed with the downwardly facing surface, and a locking member movable relative to the receiving part from a first position where the head is insertable into the head receiving portion to a second position where the head is prevented from being removed from the head receiving portion. At least part of the locking member is held to the receiving part between the downwardly and upwardly facing surfaces, and wherein the receiving part and the locking member are only separable from one another by permanently deforming or damaging at least one of the receiving part or the locking member.

Coupling device for coupling a rod to a bone anchoring element and method of manufacturing the same

A polyaxial bone anchoring device includes: an anchoring element having a shaft and a head; a receiving part having a top end, a bottom end, and an accommodation space for accommodating the head, the accommodation space having a lower opening at the bottom end, a sleeve-like insert piece configured to be positioned around a portion of the head, wherein a lower edge of the insert piece extends past the lower opening when the insert piece is seated in the receiving part; a pressure member configured to contact the head to exert pressure onto the head; wherein when the head, the insert piece, and the pressure member are arranged in the receiving part, the insert piece is tiltable with respect to the receiving part and with respect to the anchoring element, and wherein the anchoring element and the insert piece can be locked at respective angles relative to the receiving part.

A bone anchoring device includes a bone anchoring element having a head and a shaft, a receiving part for coupling the bone anchoring element to a stabilization element, the receiving part having a bore having a bore axis, a seat member configured to be arranged in the bore and to be rotatable around the bore axis, the seat member forming a seat for polyaxially holding the head, the seat member being configured to allow a greater pivot angle of the bone anchoring element in a first direction compared to other directions when the bone anchoring element and the seat member are in the receiving part, and a pressure member configured to contact the head to exert pressure onto the head, and to be connected to the seat member, such that the pressure member is rotatable together with the seat member around the bore axis.

Bone anchoring device

A targeting device for guiding a drill arrangement for forming an arc-shaped bore in an assembly of adjacent bones or bone fragments, comprises a support frame, a pivoting device mounted to the support frame and arranged to receive the drill arrangement and to allow a pivoting movement of the drill arrangement along an arc-shaped path having a predetermined radius of curvature raround a pivot axis. The support frame is provided with at least three fixation devices each configured to fix a bone or bone fragment of the bone assembly to define a fixed position in space of the bone assembly with respect to the pivoting device when the bone assembly is installed on the support frame.
