The invention provides a process for preparing a thixotropic agent based on a urea derivative, in which the components &#x3b1;) comprising at least one amine and &#x3b2;) comprising at least one isocyanate, are supplied separately to a mixing means and are mixed with one another, the reaction mixture being discharged by spraying or squirting from the mixing means. Further disclosed is the use of the thixotropic agent in a fluid system. The process is especially suitable for preparing adhesives and sealants.

The invention provides an adhesive or sealant comprising (A) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of polyurethanes, polyureas, polyacrylates, polysulphides, silylated polyurethanes, silylated polyureas, silylated polyethers, silylated polysulphides and silyl-terminated acrylates, and (B) at least 0.32% by weight of 2-ethylhexyl methyl terephthalate, based on the overall adhesive or sealant. A process is disclosed for preparing the adhesive or sealant, and also disclosed is the use thereof for producing material bonds between parts to be joined.

The invention relates to a method for removing water from a mixture containing at least one compound having at least one group reactive towards isocyanate and containing water, the mixture being applied to the surface of a rotating body A, the mixture flowing over the surface of the rotating body A to an outer region of the surface of the rotating body A and water evaporating from the mixture. In particular, this method is suitable for removing water from alcohols and amines.

Disclosed are silane-modified urea derivatives which can be produced by reacting diisocyanates with aminosilanes, hydroxysilanes, or mercaptosilanes. The inventive silane-modified urea derivatives are suitable especially for use as auxiliary rheological agents, preferably as thixotropic agents for silane-crosslinking systems, particularly for single-component and two-component adhesives and sealants, paint, lacquers, and coating while causing substantially no increase in viscosity, not being subject to discoloring, being reactive, and positively influencing mechanics.
