Method of manufacturing a blade-shaped hair-pulling element ( ) for a cutting unit ( ) of a shaver. The shaver comprises a plurality of cutter elements ( ) and a corresponding plurality of hair-pulling elements ( ) each arranged in front of one of the cutter elements for movement therewith relative to an outer cutting member ( ) and each slidable on the inner cutter element so as to be movable relative thereto for its hair-pulling action. In order to increase the distance over which the hairs are pulled up, an end portion ( ) of each hair-pulling element ( ) has an enlarged thickness. The hair-pulling element is obtained by means of a process of shaping the outline (stamping, etching, laser) followed by a bending process. The method to obtain the thickened end part ( ) is characterized in that during the process of shaping the outline, the hair-pulling element is provided with a tab ( ) which in a following bending process is bent against the end portion ( ) of the hair-pulling element.

Shaving apparatus

There is provided a shaving apparatus having a shear plate formed with hair-entrance apertures and a cutting unit associated with and rotatable relative to the shear plate. The cutting unit comprises a cutting member having cutters and a hair-pulling member having lead cutters respectively associated with and movable relative to the cutters. A separate coupling piece is provided for securing the cutting member and the hair-pulling member together by passage through corresponding central openings in each such member. One or more connection tabs extend radially inwardly from the periphery of the central opening in the hair-pulling member for contact with the coupling piece.

A dry-shaving apparatus comprises a shear foil having hair entrance apertures and a cutting member movable relative to the shear foil and including a flexible cutter plate formed with lamellar cutting elements extending between two oppositely disposed edge portions of the cutter plate and separated from each other by slots. A regular pattern of openings formed in each edge portion of the cutter plate is so arranged that an opening is situated at the corresponding base of each lamellar cutting element.
