Compositions used for cleansing hair and skin based on the combination of a sulfosuccinate surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant are described that are very mild but do not compromise in-use properties and economy. A route to solve the intrinsic instability of such aqueous compositions in storage has been developed based on the use of sulfosuccinic acid or a salt of sulfosuccinic acid present in an amount of at least about 4% based on the weight of the sulfosuccinate surfactant.

Mild, moisturizing cleansing compositions

Compositions used for cleansing hair and skin based on the combination of an ethoxy sulfosuccinate surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant are described that are very mild but do not compromise in-use properties and economy. It has been found desirable to utilize a mixture of a Mid-Chain alkyl ethoxy sulfosuccinate and a Long-Chain alkyl ethoxy sulfosuccinate wherein the Long-Chain component is present in the composition at a level from about 0.1% to about 6% based on the total weight of the Mid-Chain component.

Mild, moisturizing sulfosuccinate cleansing compositions

An aqueous non-aerosol hair styling composition having 55% or less VOC content, said composition comprising (i) a water soluble or dispersable fixative polymer of about 10 to about 1000 Kilo Daltons and in an amount ranging from 1% to 40% by weight of the composition; (ii) a neutralizing agent in an amount ranging from 0.1 to 10% by weight and selected from the group consisting of 2-amino, 2-methyl, 1-propanol, dimethyl stearamine, sodium hydroxide, and potassium hydroxide; (iii) a surfactant in an amount ranging from 0.01% to 5% by weight and selected from the group consisting of sodium dioctyl sulfo succinate, sodium dodecyl sulfate, cocoamidopropyl betaine, and sodium laureth sulfate; (iv) a salt ranging from 0.01% to 10% by weight and selected from the group consisting of sodium benzoate, and magnesium acetate; (v) an alcohol ranging from 10% to 90% by weight; and (vi) water ranging from 10% to 90% by weight.

Low VOC hair spray compositions having enhanced styling benefits

W,-O-W,emulsions are disclosed in which the W,/O emulsion comprises an internal aqueous phase containing a benefit agent and an oil phase surrounding it, and, around this is found an external isotropic aqueous phase. It is critical that the external surfactant phase not comprise an amido containing anionic. It is also critical that oil be not greater than 50% unsaturated and not be a volatile silicone.

Stable multiple emulsion composition

W,-O-W,emulsions are disclosed in which the W,/O emulsion comprises an internal aqueous phase containing optional benefit agent and an oil phase surrounding it, and, around this is found an external isotropic aqueous phase comprising surfactant system and specific thickeners. Selection of surfactant system and thickener is critical to the multiple emulsion composition not phase separating.
