A device includes a port and a transformer. The transformer includes a first coil that has a first node and a second node and a second coil that is coupled to the output port. The device also includes a pulse generator coupled to the first node to generate two or more pulses with a first period on the first node and a delay module that is coupled between the second node of the first coil and the pulse generator. The delay module is generates a time delay to the two or more pulses of the pulse generator before the two or more pulses are delivered to the second node. The second coil provides a signal at the port.

Cancellation technique for second harmonic distortion and spectral image in DACS and digital transmitters

An system includes a port to receive a number of bits at a first frequency. One or more cells generate a signal for a channel with a channel frequency that is N times greater than the first frequency. The cells transmit at a second frequency that is M times greater than the first frequency but is smaller than the channel frequency. Interface links are coupled between a portion of the input bits of the port and the one or more cells and the portion of the input bits is encoded by thermometer coded T bits such that each one of the T bits is encoded by M repeated parallel bits having a value of a respective T bit. Each interface link includes M interface lines between each T bit and each first cell, and M is smaller than N to reduce the number of interface lines for the T bits.

The present disclosure describes a system that can include an antenna; a receive (Rx) path coupled to the antenna; and a transmit (Tx) path comprising a balun; and a radio frequency (RF) attenuator comprising a first port and a second port, the balun coupled to the first port, the antenna coupled to the second port. The RF attenuator can include a first switch coupled between the first port and the second port; a second switch and a first attenuator coupled to each other in series between the first port and the second port, the first attenuator having a first attenuator value; and a third switch and a second attenuator coupled to each other in series between the first port and the second port, the second attenuator having a second attenuator value greater than the first attenuator value of the first attenuator.

Systems and methods for controlling transmission of power using attenuation

Disclosed herein are related to systems and methods for correcting non-linearity due to duty cycle error. In one aspect, a system includes a mixer configured to up-convert transmission (Tx) data, a coefficient calibrator configured to select a target value of a coefficient based on a measurement of an interference signal due to non-linearity of the mixer, and an interference canceller coupled to the coefficient calibrator and the mixer. In some embodiments, the interference canceller is configured to generate compensated Tx data based on the Tx data and the selected target value of the coefficient and provide the compensated Tx data to the mixer. In some embodiments, the compensated Tx data corrects for the non-linearity of the mixer.

Digital transmitter with duty cycle correction

A device implementing unified coordination of wireless communications over multiple physical layers may include a MAC module communicatively coupled to first and second physical layer modules that are each configured to communicate with another device over first and second physical wireless channels, respectively. The MAC module may be configured to provide data to the first physical layer module for transmission to the another device over the first physical wireless channel, where the first physical wireless channel is associated with a first link parameter. Disclosed herein are related to systems and methods for selectively disabling current steering circuitries. In one aspect, the system includes a balun including a first inductor and a second inductor, a first current steering circuit coupled to the first inductor, a second current steering circuit coupled to the first inductor, and a controller coupled to the first current steering circuit and the second current steering circuit. In one aspect, the controller is configured to, based on input data having a first state, apply a first signal and a second signal having a first level to the first current steering circuit and a third signal and a fourth signal having the first level to the second current steering circuit to disable a first current through the second inductor, a second current through the first current steering circuit, and a third current through the second current steering circuit.

Switched current-steering digital transmitter with encoder based up-conversion

A system and apparatus is provided to reduce signal routing, area and signal loss in double-pole, double-throw (DPDT) switch implementations in wireless and millimeter-wave front ends. Unified media access control (MAC) for multiple physical layer devices

Systems and methods are provided for millimeter-wave (MMW) communication, the system includes a transceiver chip to generate and to receive signals. An interface is used to communicate the signals between the transceiver chip and one or more active antenna modules. The signals include modulated MMW signals and control signals. The transceiver chip includes baseband circuitry, up and down conversion mixers, and RF front-end circuitry. An active antenna module receives a first modulated MMW signal from the interface for transmission via antennas and to receive a second modulated MMW signal from the antennas for transmission through the interface to the transceiver chip.

Multi-chip millimeter-wave interface

A device implementing unified media access control (MAC) for multiple physical layer devices may include a MAC module communicatively coupled to first and second physical layer modules that are configured to communicate with another device over first and second physical wireless channels, respectively. The MAC module may be configured to receive one or more data items to be transmitted to the another device and to select at least one of the first or second physical layer modules for transmission of the one or more data items based at least in part on a first wireless link quality of the first physical wireless channel and a second wireless link quality of the second physical wireless channel. The MAC module may be further configured to provide the one or more data items to the selected at least one of the first or second physical layer modules for transmission to another device.

A bidirectional time-division duplexing transceiver circuit includes a first and a second bidirectional phase-shift circuit, and a bidirectional amplifier circuit including a first amplifier circuit and a second amplifier circuit. The first amplifier circuit and the second amplifier circuit are coupled via double-pole-double-throw (DPDT) switches to radio-frequency (RF) antennas and the first and the second bidirectional phase-shift circuits. The (DPDT) switches enable the first amplifier circuit and the second amplifier circuit to be operable simultaneously as transmit (TX) path amplifiers in a first time slot and as a receive (RX) path amplifiers in a second time slot.

Bidirectional transceiver circuits

Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for generating a phase-shifted signal in a transmit path and a receive path of a transceiver. When transmitting, a quadrature hybrid in the transmit path generates at least one in-phase signal and at least one quadrature signal based on a modulated signal. Phase shifters generate phase-shifted versions of the modulated signal based on a combination of these signals. When receiving, antennas receive a modulated signal and provide the modulated signal to phase shifters in the receive path. Each phase shifter modifies its received modulated signal. A matching network combines each of the modified modulated signals and provides at least one combined modulated signal to a quadrature hybrid. The quadrature hybrid generates a phase-shifted version of the modulated signal based on the at least one combined signal.

Methods, systems, and apparatus for phase-shifted signal generation

A wireless communication device includes a first circuit including a baseband circuit and a radio circuit, and at least one frontend module (FEM) remote from the first circuit and placed in close proximity to and coupled to at least one radio-frequency (RF) antenna. The FEM is coupled to the first circuit via interface circuitry. An FEM comprises a frontend (FE) circuit including one or more low-noise amplifiers (LNAs), one or more power amplifiers (PAs), and at least one of a multi-pole switch and a multiplexer. The multi-pole switch and the multiplexer being implemented on a first side of the FEM coupled to the interface circuitry. The interface circuitry includes at least some of filters, splitters, multi-pole switches, and multiplexers to reduce a count of interconnect routes to the at least one FEM.
