A symmetric discrete-time square-root-raised-cosine filter may be utilized to process a serial input signal and to produce an output square in each clock cycle. The filter may be adapted to decrease the computational complexity of the resulting calculations, making the filter amenable to use in power sensitive applications and in those situations where the available processor's performance is relatively limited.

A system for use in managing activity of interest within an enterprise is provided. The system comprises a computer configured to (i) receive sensor data that is related to key activity to the enterprise, such key activity comprising a type of object and the object's activity at a predetermined location associated with the enterprise, the sensor providing information from which an object's type and activity at the predetermined location can be derived, (ii) process the sensor data to produce output that is related to key activity to the enterprise, and (ii) store the information extracted from the processed data in a suitable manner for knowledge extraction and future analysis. In one embodiment, the present invention includes a method to use active contours to detect image boundaries of a first view and a second view of a human face, and mark a first set of fiducial points on the first view and a second set of fiducial points on the second view. A sensor for color and depth information capture is disclosed. A filter passes selected wavelengths according to a predetermined pattern to the sensor. The sensor measures light intensities passed by the filter. In one embodiment, the wavelengths passed by the filter correspond to red, green, blue and infrared light. The intensity values can be used for interpolation operations to provide intensity values for areas not captured by the sensor. For example, in an area corresponding to a pixel for which an intensity of red light is captured, interpolation operations using neighboring intensity values can be used to provide an estimation of blue, green and infrared intensities. Red, green and blue intensity values, whether captured or interpolated, are used to provide visible color image information. Infrared intensity values, whether captured or interpolated, are used to provide depth and/or surface texture information.

One or more image signal processing engines including a plurality of processing elements are employed. A dual mode filter for mobile communication may implement two disparate cellular systems such as GSM and W-CDMA. The same transceiver may be utilized to selectively receive and transmit in either of the two systems. When the system is in a GSM area, the system sends and receives GSM signals using programmable filters. Two cascaded digital decimation filters may substitute for one narrow band digital decimation filter in conventional designs. One of the filters is a multi-band digital decimation filter with N bands and the other of the digital filters is used to reject the N&#x2212;1 multi-band of the system. The number of taps on each filter may selectively be set to implement either GSM or W-CDMA. In addition, the output for the system may be set to be the output of the first filter, in the case of a W-CDMA system, or the combination of the two cascaded filters in a GSM system.

Embodiments of a color image matching scheme are disclosed. In one embodiment, a pixel intensity count is determined for color components of color images in a database and for a query color image. A fuzzy similarity and/or a fuzzy dissimilarity between the query image and the database images is computed based at least in part on the pixel intensities counts. An image is selected from the database based at least in part on the computed fuzzy similarity and/or dissimilarity, where computing a fuzzy similarity and/or dissimilarity includes computing the matching intensity. Image color matching scheme

Embodiments of a color video coding and decoding scheme are disclosed. In one embodiment, an efficient color coding scheme for color video using three dimensional (3-D) discrete wavelet transforms (DWT) employing correlation among different color components is described. At least one of the color components is coded, and an adjustment to at least some of the remaining color components relative to the coded color component are then coded.
