In an embodiment, an injection simulation device is provided including a housing defining a channel, the housing comprising a proximal end and a distal end, a plunger comprising a plunger rod body having a proximal end and a distal end and a stopper disposed at the distal end of the plunger rod, the plunger movable proximally and distally within the channel; and a friction feature associated with the housing, the friction feature for interfacing with the plunger rod, wherein the plunger moves in a distal direction relative to the housing to simulate medicament delivery and in a proximal direction to reset the injection simulation device, wherein the friction feature optionally causes differential resistance on the plunger rod, when the plunger rod moves in either the distal or proximal direction.

The injection simulation device may include a housing defining an opening, the housing having a proximal end and a distal end, a plunger movable relative to the housing, the plunger comprising a first interfacing portion, and distal movement of the plunger initiates an injection simulation, a rotatable component comprising a proximal end and a distal end, and an aperture extending between the proximal and distal ends of the rotatable component for receiving a portion of the plunger, rotatable component comprising a second interfacing portion for interfacing with the first interfacing portion to rotate the rotatable component when the plunger is moved toward the proximal or distal end of the housing. The injection simulation device may further include a stationary component defining a cavity for receiving the rotatable component, the cavity comprising a fluid, wherein movement of the plunger causes rotational and axial movement of the rotatable component, such that an interface between the rotatable component and the stationary component causes an increase in resistance during distal movement of the plunger, and a decrease in resistance occurs upon proximal movement of the plunger.

In an embodiment provided herein, an injection simulation device including a housing having a proximal end and a distal end is provided. The injection simulation device embodiment comprises a plunger having a proximal end, a distal end and being slidable relative to the housing, and a retractable injection simulation member at the distal end of the housing, at least one biasing member associated with the retractable injection simulation member and associated with the plunger, wherein a first force on a distal end of the injection simulation member causes movement of the injection simulation member from an extended position to a retracted position, to compress the first biasing member, and simulate the tactility of an injection to a user; and wherein a second force on the proximal end of the plunger asserts a third force on the first biasing member to facilitate resetting the injection simulation member to the extended position.

Embodiments including an injection device having a housing with an outer surface, an inner surface, a proximal end and a distal end, and a defining a chamber extending between the proximal end and the distal end are provided herein. The device may include a plunger having a first end and a second end, the plunger being movable proximally and distally within the chamber of the housing, the plunger comprising a plunger rod extending from the first end to the second end of the plunger; and a plunger limiting mechanism configured to interface with the plunger rod, to limit the proximal movement of the plunger and prevent removal of the plunger from the housing.

A resettable injection training device embodiment is provided. In one embodiment, the device may include an outer housing comprising locking tabs at its proximal end, a safety shield, the safety shield being slidable relative to the outer housing between a ready-to-fire position, and a fired position, wherein when the safety shield is in a fired position, the injection simulation member is retracted into the outer housing. The device may further include a plunger comprising a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end comprising a plunger contact portion for interfacing with the locking tabs to displace the locking tabs to unlock the safety shield, and a biasing member disposed between the outer housing and the safety shield to extend the shield in a proximal direction upon release of the locking tabs, wherein retraction of the plunger and proximal movement of the outer housing resets the device.

A resettable injection training device embodiment including an outer housing having a proximal end and a distal end, the housing defining a chamber there within, a safety shield having a proximal end and a distal end, the safety shield having a retracted, locked position, a first extended unlocked position, a second extended unlocked position, and a second extended locked position is described herein. The device embodiment including a plunger having a proximal a distal end, the plunger having a retracted and an extended position. The device may include a rotating plunger locking collar, an unlocking member coupled to the plunger, wherein rotation of the unlocking member from a first position to a second position unlocks the device and releases the safety shield from the retracted, locked position. The device may further include a resetting cap for resetting the device for a subsequent use.

In an embodiment, a resettable injection training device and a method embodiment for resetting the device is provided herein. The device may include a housing having a proximal end and a distal end, the housing defining a cavity there within. A plunger may be slidable relative to the housing between the proximal end and the distal end. A releasably locking shield having a proximal end and a distal end, and being slidably engaged with the housing is also provided. The shield may be slidable between a retracted, pre-use position an extended, locked, post-use position. The device may further include a flat biasing member for locking the shield in the extended position, and a compressing component slidable relative to the housing, wherein pressure on the flat biasing member from the compressing component deforms the flat biasing member, and unlocks the shield, and wherein a release of pressure by the compressing component on the flat biasing member locks the shield in an extended, post-use position.
