A headrest assembly for a vehicle includes a head support having a front side, a back side, a left side, and a right side. A left support arm is coupled to the left side and aright support aim is coupled to the right side. A left speaker module is coupled to the left support arm and a right speaker module is coupled to the right support arm, the left and right speaker modules each including a housing having a front face with at least one speaker mounted therein for generating audio output. The left and right support arms are arranged to position the left and right speaker modules in a retracted position with respect to the head support to provide a surround sound mode, a first extended position to provide an individual sound zone (ISZ) mode, and a second extended position to provide a binaural mode.

Various systems and methods are provided for conducting acoustical measurements via an inflatable mannequin. In one embodiment, a system comprises an inflatable mannequin that comprises a detachable mannequin head, a plurality of inflatable anatomical parts, and a plurality of configurable joints, an inflation system that calibrates and controls inflation of the plurality of anatomical parts of the inflatable mannequin; and a joint control system that calibrates and controls the plurality of configurable joints via joint motors. In another embodiment, a first method comprises selecting a mannequin profile based on sizes of anatomical parts of the inflatable mannequin and second method comprises conducting acoustical measurements with the selected mannequin profile. In this way, acoustical measurements may be conducted to develop audio processing schemes that widen the sweet spot in an interior of a vehicle.

A system and method for applying a set of road noise cancellation parameters to a road noise cancellation system in a vehicle traveling from a first road surface type to a second road surface type, the set being associated with a vehicle type, a tire type, a road surface type, or a vehicle location. The system and method collects and compares data with the set of road noise cancellation parameters in a database to identify when the vehicle has traveled from a first road surface type to a second road surface type and, upon identifying the vehicle has traveled from a first road surface type to a second road surface type, applies the adjusted set of road noise cancellation parameters in the database that optimize the road noise cancellation system for the second road surface type.

Estimated output signals of the reference signals are generated using an estimated filter path transfer function that provides an estimated effect on sound waves traversing a physical path, the estimated filter path transfer function performing processing according to a diagonalization matrix and reference signals. Anti-noise signals are generated from the reference signals using an adaptive filter driven by learning unit signals received from a learning algorithm unit, the learning unit signals based in part on error output signals generated from the estimated output signals, the anti-noise signals including signals per sound zone and per reference signal, each sound zone including a microphone and one or more loudspeakers. A sum across references is performed on the anti-noise signals to generate a set of output signals per sound zone. The set of output signals are processed by the diagonalization matrix to generate a set of output signals per loudspeaker.
