An electrical connector assembly includes: an electrical connector defining a front face, a receiving cavity opening through the front face with a first cavity face and a second cavity face opposite to each other; and a waterproof cover comprising a tube portion and a cover portion, wherein the tube portion defines an inner ring rib at an inner side thereof and an outer ring rib at an outer side thereof, and the inner face ring presses against the first cavity face and the outer ring rib presses against the second cavity face after the tube portion is inserted in the receiving cavity and the cover portion covers the front face of the electrical connector.

Electrical connector with an improved waterproof cover

A plug connector includes an insulative plug housing with a plurality of plug contacts retained thereto. The plug housing forms a plug mating portion with a mating surface thereon. The plug contacts include front blade contacting sections extending beyond the mating surface and are arranged along the first direction with one another. Viewed along the first direction, the mating surface is curved with a bulged middle section. The receptacle connector includes a receptacle housing with a plurality of receptacle contacts retained thereto. The receptacle housing forms therein a mating cavity in which a receptacle mating portion extends along the mating direction wherein the receptacle mating portion forms a mating face behind which the receptacle contacts are located. During mating, the plug mating portion is snugly received within the mating cavity with the mating surface of the plug connector is spaced from the mating face of the receptacle connector.

An electrical connector assembly includes a first connector and a second connector mateable with each other wherein each of the first connector and the second connector has an insulative housing essentially composed of a bottom wall, a side wall and a pair of end walls wherein all the bottom wall and the side wall are rectangular while the end walls are right triangular. The first connector and he second connector are coupled with each other in a complementary manner with the corresponding hypotenuses of the right triangles confronting each other. A sealing member of a frame structure is located at an interface between the coupled edges of the housings in an oblique manner.

An electrical connector assembly includes a receptacle connector and a plug connector mateable with each other. Each of the receptacle connector and the plug connector defines a first mating face and a second mating face perpendicular to each other in response to mating along the front-to-back direction and the vertical direction. Each of the receptacle connector and the plug connector includes a plurality of contacts composed of a plurality of first contacts and a plurality of contact units alternately arranged with each other along the transverse direction perpendicular to both the front-to-back direction and the vertical direction. Each contact unit includes a second contact and a third contact wherein the second contact is closer to the second mating face than the third contact is while the third contact is closer to the first mating face than the second contact is.

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing, a plurality of slit type passageways, a plurality of blade type contacts retained with the corresponding slit type passageways, respectively, and a plurality of wires having the inner conductors soldered upon the tails of the contacts behind the rear face of the housing. The rear face forms a plurality of standoffs on which the front ends of the exposed inner conductor abut, respectively. A waterproof glue plate fills the back space of the housing behind the rear face to enclose the exposed inner conductors and the corresponding tails and seal the rear face of the housing.
