One or more embodiments allow a user to search a gallery of digital content. In particular, a user can interact with a digital content system to search for, and identify, one or more digital content items (e.g., photos, videos, audio) within a collection of digital content. For instance, the digital content system can maintain tokens with respect to a collection of digital content and associate the tokens with digital content items within the collection of digital content. The digital content system can also provide a gallery of digital content items within a view area of a graphical user interface. Upon receiving a search query, the digital content system can identify a token and identify digital content items corresponding to the token. The digital content system can further provide a new or modified gallery within the view area of the graphical user interface based on the identified digital content items.

Searching digital content

Described embodiments enable the automatic uploading and sharing of objects via a content management system (CMS). A user of a client device may request to share an object via a user interface. Prior to the request, the object may be stored in a storage location of the client device that is not synchronized with the CMS. In one embodiment, client software detects a 'click-and-drag' operation of an object and provide a sharing element into which an object may be dropped for sharing. The CMS receives the sharing request and may automatically initiate a sharing process comprising receiving the object from the client device, storing the object in the CMS, generating a link to the object, and sending the link to indicated or pre-determined recipient(s). In various embodiments, the objects are synchronized with the CMS and/or organized according to various object parameters within a directory of the CMS.

Automatic file storage and sharing

Embodiments are provided for forming share bars including collections of content items. In some embodiments, a user interface may be displayed on a display interface of a user device. The user interface may include a first region including a collection of content items and a second region including one or more contact icons. A first gesture may be detected on the display interface that selects one or more content items from the collection of content items and places the one or more content items in a first share bar associated with a first contact of the one or more contacts. One or more share options may be provided to share the first share bar with a first contact corresponding to the first contact icon.

Sharing content items from a collection

Systems and methods are provided for creating shared virtual spaces using a client device. For example, the disclosed systems receive a request from a user to share one or more digital content items with other users via a shared virtual space. The disclosed systems queue a request to send data to a content management system to create the shared virtual space. In some instances, the disclosed systems can determine that a connection between a user's client device and the content management system is below a threshold connectivity, and then simulate an online experience for the user despite the poor connection.

Systems and methods for creating shared virtual spaces

A content management server that uploads files from a mobile device to a cloud-based storage location based on a battery level associated with the mobile device. The content management system receives mobile device operating information and regulates the upload of files based on the mobile device operating information. In various embodiments, the mobile device operating information includes battery information. If the mobile device battery level drops below a first predetermined level, the content management system regulates the upload of files. Once the upload of files is regulated, the content management system continues to monitor the mobile device operating information. If the content management system determines that the mobile device battery level exceeds a second predetermined level, the content management system resumes the file upload process.

System and method for regulating the upload of files for a mobile device

A server system can provide coordinated event-based notifications to a target user across multiple notification channels. The selection of channels for a particular notification can be based on the type of event underlying the notification, user preferences related to delivery of notifications, and the like. The sending of notifications in different channels can be coordinated so that notifications in different channels are sent at different times, and sending of any given notification can be made to depend on whether the notification (or the underlying event) has already been acted on, as well as on user preferences related to delivery of notification. Some notifications can be sent without delay and/or unconditionally.

Coordinated notifications across multiple channels

A client device can be configured to perform a local index search and a server index search to automatically identify and upload content items on the client device that have not been uploaded to an online content management system. A local index search can include creating a unique local identifier of a content item and searching a local upload index that includes the unique local identifier of each content item that has been uploaded. A server index search can include creating a unique server identifier of the content item and searching a server upload index that includes the unique server identifier of each content item stored on the online content management system. Content items that are determined to have not been uploaded to the online content management system based on the results of the two searches, can be uploaded to the content management system by the client device.

Automatic content item upload

Systems and methods are provided for creating shared virtual spaces ('rooms'). A room may be created when a user first shares images with another user. A user may send a request to a content management system to share one or more images with various contacts. In response, a room is created by the content management system in which a copy of each image is stored. Images added to a room are copied to a separate 'rooms' database, and &#x201c;locked,&#x201d; being saved in the room for a period of time, which may be indefinitely. Changes made by the user to a room via a user device may be displayed as soon as indicated, without waiting for the information to be sent to a system server or its state to be made consistent with that of the user device. Room activity notifications may be sent to members in various ways.

An online content management system enables rapid application development by an application developer using an application development system to create a content application configured to execute on a client device. A designated folder on the application development system is designated for sharing with the client device. Configuration data containing parameters for controlling the operation of the content application is stored in the designated folder. The content application on the client device reads the configuration data from the designated location and applies the parameters on execution and thereafter. When the configuration data is modified on the application development system, the modified data is synchronized by the content management system to the client device. The content application on the client device reads the modified configuration data and applies the modified parameters during execution.
